Vernell Payton

Vernell Payton is a New Orleans native who has managed to create a distinctive style and sound. Payton has a unique presence on stage; he tends to captivate the audience with his soulful crooning and ability to not just sing but to actually connect with his audience.

At the age of 10, Payton realized his purpose was to share the love of Christ through singing.  He first exposed his impeccable gift at Bradley Elementary School and later attended New Orleans Center of Creative Arts.  Payton then had many opportunities to perform at holiday events, weddings and many churches in the Greater New Orleans area.

Payton has accomplished many things over the years including becoming a licensed minister, starting his own business, and much more.  He continues to gain priceless wisdom and insight from his spiritual father, Bishop Darryl S. Brister (New Orleans, LA).  He is the proud father of David V. C. Payton III, who he heavily adores.

Payton’s musical performance history includes opening for Brian Courtney Wilson, performing at local festivals and charitable events, and singing before thousands during the Louisiana Southern Berith District Conference of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International.  Payton’s musical influencers are Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Kim Burrell, and Smokie Norful to name a few.

In 2014 Payton signed with 4Parks Entertainment Inc., an indie entertainment company and record label under the direction of businessman/singer/songwriter Fred T. Williams (Chicago, IL), and released his debut single entitled “With You”.  “With You” is currently being played in several cities and over 10 countries.  Poised to become a mainstay in the music industry, Payton is a rising star that you will want to keep your eyes on.
