Bio

“Versetille” a.k.a. “Versatile”

The name is “VERSETILLE”(“Versatile”)...but you can call him” VERSE”. The name says it all. Representing no one but himself, he may rap but his music surpasses the idea of being a “rapper”. He can bump with the punks ,hop onto pop and still pop on hip-hop. He is a huge magnitude of sound. He is an outcast of all the past, the present and the future. He is “VERSETILLE” and he is the NOW!.

Starting at a young age and now at 22, Verse has positioned himself for super-stardom after a long time in the making. He was born Derrell Hoyte on August 7th 1988 in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up he overcame many of life’s challenges and obstacles like being a witness to physical confrontation due to his parents unity and the absence of his Father through separation. His Mother suffered from alcoholism and he spent most of his life moving from place to place knowing that he had to grow up quickly if he wanted a place in society. At a very young age, he actually found himself living alone for some time. All his hopes and dreams were once shattered! Derrell battled depression from family problems and peer’s teasing him about his weight at the school yard and at one point considered suicide but soon found the light at the end of the tunnel.

With all the drama surrounding “Versetille” like a Bose 7:1, he still managed to sought refuge and he found it in music as a child artist like the great Biggie Smalls and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. His hopes and dreams of becoming a hip hop icon had soon begun and by 5th grade he had already created a local buzz on the streets by battling freestyles and popping off on beats at any given moment. By 6th grade he enrolled in a performing arts junior High School and joined the choir to better enhance his knowledge and talents for music. It was then he found the inspiration from the more classical and jazz artists such as Beethoven, Choplin, Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole.

After college he became fully dedicated to his music career and he teamed up with his best friend from earlier years to release numerous mix tapes. They then created their own entertainment group for those who shared the same love and determination called “Connect Gang Entertainment”. “Versetille” paid 100% of the financial aspects of the group himself.

By 2008, they were a force to be reckoned with and having a strong team and a strong fan base it was a perfect time to release their first single “Get It In”. This track featured “Versetille”, his best friend and his partner and was receiving tremendous feedback. Drugs and bad influence started to become evident as “Idol” started promoting the single and eventually, “Idol” quit the group.

They later faced deeper challenges as ‘Idol” was featured on the single, so they really couldn’t promote or push the track to be picked up by a label and they soon lost some motivation. At this time, the concept they had became up for grabs and artists like “50 Cent” and “Omarion’s” version of “Get it in” had snatched the opportunity.

‘Versetille”, being down but NOT out picked himself back up with only the will to succeed! He began buying things he would need to lift himself off the ground and get his material out there. He started talking to producers and managers from everywhere and was looking down every avenue he could possibly see. He traveled from Brooklyn to New Jersey every week which led to tons of hours of studio time in New Jersey. The owners and engineers of the studio noticed “Versetille’s” determination. They began working together and the rest is history.

At the end of the day, “Versetille” remained free from all distractions of life. He is a true artist. Looking to comb the world with powerful words and great music, he is poised to gain the attention of a society that once did him wrong. Can this boy dance?? You bet! He can dance, rap and sing a little too. He has also mastered the other walls of the music industry such as managing, producing, promoting and pretty much everything else on the music industry’s plate.

Today, “Versetille” is ready to take the world on and has developed a strong fan base and an album on the way! So look out Music Industry, a bigger and better Kat is on the loose and is about to hit homes all across the world!
