Vertixe Sonora Ensemble

A
flexible collective that unites outstanding soloists of contemporary
music from Galicia and Portugal, Vertixe
Sonora
Ensemble
is made up of sound artists, visual artists, jazz musicians,
classical music performers and people from theater and dance.

From
an awareness of multiplicity in sound approach it establishes an
ongoing dialogue and interaction with the thought, science,
technology and other art forms from a cosmopolitan, integrated and
cross-cultural perspective, for promoting an open space for
reflection, discussion and exchange in the field of contemporary
music, which does not renounce neither the rigour nor the
transgression or the avant-garde spirit.

It
integrates the Galician Sonologie Institute (GSI), a platform for
research and experimentation with sound and new media, then for
creating sound rational technology of the future.

Since
its appearance Vertixe has become an international reference for the
last generation of composers of our continent who finds in its
productions the opportunity for developing musical ideas with a
global artistic perspective and permanent pursuit of artistic
excellence.

Vertixe
Sonora
collaborates
with the Galician Center for Contemporary Art (CGAC, Santiago de
Compostela ), where it developes the cycle “Music and Art: Sound
Correspondences”, Digital Media Workshops from the GSI and Causal,
an International Meeting of Contemporary Music.

It
also organizes the vertixeVIGO
Festival and
is the Ensemble-In-Residence of sonUTopias
- campUSCulturae
at the University of Santiago de Compostela

2011 there are numerous composers from many different countries who
