Bio
Verttigo, the story of a young Latino who found inspiration through his father’s past musical success, which led them to join forces, as a duo, to redefine today’s Latin sound.
Paul Barrientos, aka PAUL B, a Peruvian immigrant raised in Paterson New Jersey, grew up listening to CBS recording artist Autocontrol, a successful Peruvian rock band that his father created in the late 80’s. The music of Bon Jovi, Bread, The Eagles, and Bruce Springsteen was also heard at home while growing up.
His teenage years were influenced by the music of artists like Drake, Eminem and JayZ, thus building his passion for Hip Hop and becoming a great freestyle Rapper performing in local New York and New Jersey clubs.
Paul’s father, Victor Arturo Barrientos an Emmy Award-wining music producer is a well-known and respected composer within the US and Peru, who managed to actualize his dreams despite rough beginnings. Being well versed in the art of Latino music also brought Barrientos to combine his gifts with major stars such as Shakira, Tito Puente, and Luis Fonsi. His most recent performance was alongside Mexican rock star Alejandra Guzman, at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
That old adage, “Like father, like son,” holds true for the Barrientos; the musical pair joining together for the reinvention of their revolutionary Latino Pop rock band.
By mixing music styles across cultures, generations and balancing their duality, while embracing their individuality, Verttigo a blend of rock, hip hop and Latin American grooves is shaping today’s Latin sound.
