Bio

viaSound began as a collaboration project between songwriters, Angel Itenchi and Greg Miller over the summer of 2013. The band evolved to include jazz drummer, Joe Eck (Spontaneous Rex) and upright bassist, Jon Small. The original sound they create is very eclectic.... It definitely has a jazz influence but borders on pop and experimental. viaSound is featured monthly at The Pink Door, every second Friday. Influences include Fiona Apple, Radiohead, Rachael Yamagata, Micah P. Hinson, Bjork, and The Swell Season.

Jazz vocalist, Angel Itenchi wishes to become a household name within the Seattle music scene. As a songwriter she has collaborated with instrumentalists of diverse varieties to create a unique sound. Her voice can come across as sultry yet sometimes heartfelt, depending on the lyrics. Her new band, viaSound has just finished recording the first three songs of their upcoming EP. She has studied under the direction of Wayne Horvitz, Jovino Santos-Neto, and Jim Knapp, among others. Currently she has been commissioned to compose the score for the upcoming musical film, “The Backyard Astronomer.” She has performed at venues all over Seattle such as The Pink Door, The Royal Room, Poncho Hall, Egan’s Jam House, Tula’s Jazz Club, Highway 99 Blues Club, The Neptune Theater, The Can Can, and Jazz Bones.

Angel recorded her first EP, “It’s All Uphill From Here” in 2007. This was produced by Nick Holman and featured members of the Seattle band and KEXP favorite, “Curtains For You.” Since then, she has worked as a backup singer, server, and bartender in various Seattle restaurants. In 2009, she decided to go back to school to study her one true passion, music. She has maintained a 3.9 GPA at Cornish College of the Arts and will graduate with honors in 2014. Once the BFA in jazz vocal performance is obtained, she plans to go on to graduate school at the University of Washington to pursue a master’s degree in the same field. She also composed “Broken Open” in 2011 for the film, “Heart Breaks Open” which premiered at film festivals all over the world.

Greg Miller studied composition at Berklee College of Music. As an avid guitar player and songwriter, he has worked with several artists hailing from opposite coasts. He recorded his EP, "Chopping Block" in his home studio, layering in percussion, guitar, bass, strings, and vocals including harmonies as a solo artist. In 2012, he teamed up with his coworker, Angel Itenchi to invent the band, viaSound. Together, they composed more than 25 songs over the summer of 2013. The band is currently gaining momentum on the Seattle scene and has can be seen the second Friday of each month at the Pink Door.

Joe Eck holds a BFA in Jazz Percussion with an emphasis is performance form Cornish College of the Arts. He currently plays around Seattle in several bands.
