"Pomp and Circumstance"

Nowadays, it’s hard to encounter albums one can really love. But with Vic Da Baron, that is not the case. In a world where only one hit single is the only listenable thing on an album, Vic Da Baron puts forth collections that are worth bumping to—all in its entirety.

Vic Da Baron grew up around music. His mother was a gospel and soul singer, and his brother was an up-and-coming rapper in the 90’s, before being sentenced to prison. Vic Da Baron enjoyed going to the studio everyday with his brother and developed an infatuation with the music and entertainment business. “Me and all my friends used to freestyle and mess around,” says Vic Da Baron, “but I never took it seriously until 2004. Not till then did I realize that I was the perfect candidate to change this game.”

And it was a big change Vic Da Baron sought after. Music, he claims, is his first love. But something didn’t feel right when the quality of it started to decline: “I couldn’t even find one album in the store that was slappin’. Nothing on the radio but lean wit it, pop wit it, and love songs. And I’m sorry, but that just don’t do it for me.” Because of this, Vic Da Baron worked to become a better musician. He created music that everyone not only can listen to but can also relate to. Familiarity, in essence, is nurturing to the soul. And in order to reach out to a vast majority of the audience, Vic Da Baron explores different dimensions in music.

“I’m not a one-dimensional artist, and I plan on proving that by doing as many different types of music as possible.” That being said, Vic Da Baron has proven that he can be a real MC with any beats that come his way. “I’ll drop the heat. It’s that simple for me. Hip hop, R&B, rock, reggaeton, alternative—it’s all the same to me. Shit, you could throw on some salsa, and I’ll rock ya quinceñera.”

Vic Da Baron’s craft is wrought in metaphors. His songs portray double meanings in a genre that is most popular with today’s market—hip hop. “I got fans ranging from five to fifty. I ran into this cat the other day, and he told me his mom stole my CD from him and was bumping it while cooking dinner and sewing…I got an original style and choose my lyrics very carefully.” This original style is reflective upon Vic Da Baron’s personal image. “My image probably portrays me as a hustler in these streets—a boss, a pimp, a family man, and a leader which is very similar to my life outside of the music business.”

When not working on music, Vic Da Baron just likes to relax with family and friends, and “plot how me and my team are gonna take over the world!” Humor aside, it’s becoming ever more difficult for artists to move forward without seizing any opportunities. “I want a lot and the only way to get what you want is to take it.”

Growing up, Vic Da Baron was inspired by DJ Premiere. “I think that’s where I get a lot of my inspiration for when it comes to picking beats cuz all his shit is epic, and that’s the sound I’m shooting for. I’m inspired by anybody who’s making moves.” Making such moves is done by people who really know themselves. It is the source of Vic Da Baron’s craft: “You gotta know you better than anyone else in this world. And when you find out who you are, just be yourself and be original and creative. Don’t be too quick to put out an album. Take your time, work on a few mixtapes first, and when you get ya shit sounding like mine, then you’ll know you’re ready…”

Vic Da Baron has a mixtape, “12-02-81: THE BEGINNING” available on rapbay.com. His album is currently available on iTunes, so don’t forget to check him out. - Queen B Chronicles

"Vic Da Baron"

Vic knew he was destined for success early on in life. A natural-born hustler and bona fide artist, Vic Da Baron exhibited signs of unusually high intelligence and gained a reputation for his talents at a young age. Dealing with a loss as a youth introduced him to the harsh realities of inner city Oakland where he grew up. Profoundly affected by the brutal murder of his mother, Catrina, a soul and gospel singer and Vic's most enthusiastic supporter, he worked twice as hard to keep pushing and striving for excellence in his artistry. His brother, Vitani Teflon, also brought him along to local studio sessions and helped introduce him to the scene.

In November 2007, Vic released his first solo mixtape 12-02-81:The Beginning and also has features on The Comrades: Street Album, Hustlehauliks: Jak'n Beats Volumes 1& 2 and Nexus: The Connection. But it is his debut album, History In The Making, that brings serious heat. The first album off his label, Grindstone Ent., features Bayveterans E-40, Turf Talk, Numskull of Da Luniz, and Southern rapper,Prince Bugsy. It also features top-notch production from 6Fingers, Jallah, Frank Stacks, A. Rishwain, Kevin Bedford and Insane. His killer combination of lyrical intensity and raw delivery is reminiscent of some of his strongest influences Redman, Rakim, 2Pac, and De La Soul. Vic is also largely inspired by the talent of his late mother and the sounds he grew up on: Reggae, Gospel, 70's Soul, 80's Synth-Funk, and the grunge of the 90's. A true showman with the swagger of Frank Sinatra on and offstage, Vic Da Baron engages his audience like a seasoned pro. He is currently working on his sophomore album with artists like San Quinn and Redman.

Evidently,Vic Da Baron has garnered respect from hip-hop artists and fans alike and is continuing to create a buzz in the industry. History In The Making maintains the heat, voracity, integrity and pure skill he has demonstrated since, "THE BEGINNING." - HipHopRuckus.com
