Vicente Garcia

Vicente Garcia

Caribbean folk meets soul

Vicente Garcia is a dominican folk, soul artist born in Santo Domingo de Guzman. His debut album "Melodrama" was recorded with acclaimed producer Rafael Lazzaro in Brooklyn over the course of a year in a stripped down, acoustic environment to complement the raw, soulful blend of jazz, bossanova, bachata, Dominican bolero and salsa draped with folksy, bluesy pop lyrics.

Vicente Garcia currently embodies the difference portrayed by certain transformational artists who thrive on redefining musical genres and defying those eager to categorize. Indeed, Vicente Garcia lays down powerful musical ideas, drawing from influences such as the nostalgic sounds of soul and the tropical rhythms of his country. From a very young age, this musician, composer, and singer was exposed to a wide array of musical styles, including infectious Motown pop as well as his native caribbean flavors, the unique combination of which bridges two of the most important musical gaps – the generational gap and the cultural gap. As such, and in keeping with Garcia’s international upbringing, “Melodrama” will invariably please as its eclectic fusion offers a little something for everyone.

"A protégé of Dominican bachata star Juan Luis Guerra, newcomer. Vicente Garcia is a troubadour with strokes of tropical rhythm and lovely, catchy songs"
Leila Cobo, Billboard Magazine
