Bio

The philosophy behind the name is simple. Everyone is, has been or will be a victim of someone else's or their own thought. Just like the band's music, it's a concept everyone can identify with. This level of understanding is the reason that VoT has one of the fastest growing fan bases the Birmingham music scene has witnessed in years. This is the real music for the real people.

Formed in mid 2005, promising word spread like wildfire about the powerhouse quintet long before the group hit the stage. Finally in September of 2005, the band had their first opportunity to live up to the hype and did so in unprecedented fashion. The band accepted an opening slot at "The Nick; Birmingham's CBGB of the South." The band blazed through their set in front of near capacity, 200+ person crowd and left no doubt that VoT had arrived.

The band is fronted by Scott White. Not being your average frontman, Scott's ability to take command of and light up a stage is both inspiring and intimidating to frontmen throughout the local music scene. His lyrics and performance accurately capture the darker side of pain, violence, addiction and life in general. He pulls you into a perfectly illustrated example of where this band has been in every song that he performs.

The guitar duties are split between Eddie Parker and Myke Franklin. Neither of the two are strangers to the stage or fretboard. However, Myke's ability for fast handed riffs and primal scream vocals matched with Eddie's inclination for harmony and lead guitar work, have found their happiest homes only in VoT. Their songwriting and on-stage performance are true testaments that quality heavy music still lives!

Bass duties are handled by Derek Parker. Derek is a solid rock in the music. His performance can't be summed up in words. It has to be witnessed as he plants his foot into the spine of a song and rides it to the end.

Ricky Skelton is the furious yet non-chalant drummer for VoT. His fast-handed and fast-footed approach to his arrangements is the backbone of the VoT sound. Seeing is believing as Ricky calmly smokes a cigarette while blazing through rhythms and fills remnant of a Neil Peart, Dave Lombardo or Vinnie Paul performance.

Since their first show, the band has been filling venues, impressing fellow bands and musicians and making new friends at every stop. With no plans of slowing down or wasting time, the future remains wide open. The band is fueled by live performance and hell-bent on persistence. If you don't know who they are, you will. The sound is undeniable and you will know that this is where metal lives!
