"Victoria & Jacob - With No Certainty"

Victoria & Jacobs latest release has drawn comparisons to both Bjork and The Postal Service but really that’s only half the story. Electronic but not electronica, ‘With No Certainty’ has an underlying melancholic keyboard rhythm overlaid, apparently, with loops of Victoria’s voice stretched and distorted beyond recognition as well as the usual blips and beeps.
Accompanied by Victoria’s gorgeous dreamy vocals telling us "with no certainty there is only fairytale", the first of the two A sides is simply beautiful. Second A side ‘There’s a War’ is equally as good but this time starts slowly and gradually builds, adding layer on layer of effects, whilst still beautifully accompanied by those gorgeous breathless vocals. By track three Victoria’s asking "Do you love me?" to which there is only one possible answer - yes, yes I do! - Artrocker

"Victoria & Jacob - Festival"

Having taken up our second ever Song of The Day post with their hypnotic textured pop track ‘With No Certainty’ Cambridge duo Victoria & Jacob are back with a brand new video for their latest single ‘Festival.’ A woozy, ambient pop number driven by intoxicating trance beats and inhabited by a yearning romanticism, Victoria Harrison and Jacob Mayfield’s swoonsome song is accompanied by a wonderfully cinematic video directed by Greg Davenport. - The Line of Best Fit

Bio

Victoria & Jacob are an Electronic Indie-Pop duo from London. Somewhere between Lykke Li and The Postal Service, Victoria & Jacob have a lo-fi and ethereal sound that incorporates indie-pop song structures drenched in hazy synths and woven with Victoria’s sweet vocal cuts. Playing with “samplers, synths, vocal effects, delays, and pitch-shifting V&J create a textured and endearing take on dance music. They may find favour with fans of chill wave and lo-fi indie pop and have been compared to the likes of Bjork, Imogen Heap and St Etienne. Their choruses are uplifting, their beats are hypnotic and the vocal lines are dreamy and whistful. They've lit up the stage with The Mystery Jets, Active Child and Big Deal amongst hundreds of others and enjoyed radio play from Steve Lamacq, Jon Hillcock and Tom Robinson and garnered critical acclaim from NME, Artrocker, TimeOut, and across the blogosphere.
