Victoria Faiella

New York City, New York, USA
BandRockSinger/Songwriter

If Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Apocalyptica & Janis Joplin had a love child born into a drum circle in Kashmir it might sound something like Victoria Faiella's spellbinding new album Wild Butterfly. Elegantly intertwining string quartet arrangements with rock, world, soul, folk & alternative pop including a compelling Middle Eastern styled transformation of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs.

Biography

Bewitching vocal powerhouse & songwriter Victoria Faiella has traveled the world writing, recording & performing music with a noteworthy stint as background vocalist for Latin Superstar Enrique Iglesias. Her recently released CD "Wild Butterfly" elegantly intertwines string quartet arrangements with rock, world, alternative pop, soul & folk elements. The record includes a Middle Eastern styled reinvention of Black Sabbath's classic anti-war anthem "War Pigs" that some have hailed as "Brilliant", "Timely", "Epic" & "Ingenious!"

A trained musician, Victoria holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Following the Cosas Del Amor World Tour with Igesias she landed a record deal with Sony/Epic Records in Germany recording a full length solo album. A feature as the lead female voice in Criss Angel’s Off-Broadway production of “Mindfreak”, performances alongside cast members from HBO’s multi-award-winning series “The Sopranos” in the variety show “Comedy You Can’t Refuse” & hosting a season of IndiMusicTV were subsequent notable projects. In recent years playing and studying percussion has become a prominent passion as well as performing & recording with the many talented musicians and friends she has been fortunate to work with including members from the Tony Award Winning Broadway Musical “Movin’ Out”, The Jason Crosby Band (Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Susan Tedeschi), The Dave Diamond Band (Donna Jean and the Tricksters) and Dan Reed (The Dan Reed Network) to name a few. During her travels, Victoria has shared the stages with the likes of Alanis Morissette, Lenny Kravitz, Jewel, Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, Donna Summer, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Shakira as well as many others.

Her latest CD “Wild Butterfly” is an eclectic compilation of songs that displays a beautifully unique musical range in a surprisingly fresh & cohesive manner. From the aforementioned compelling & poignant rendition of War Pigs to all the many lush and gorgeously arranged string quartet and piano compositions to the inventive rock tunes to the sassy, sexy, soulful track ‘To Be My Man’ with 3 (yes THREE!) basses, all 14 gems on this masterful CD are bound to enrapture your soul and capture your heart. Whether she’s lamenting the despairs of war or soulfully whispering over string ensemble and piano, Victoria’s beautiful and honest voice delivers equal intensity with a style and sound uniquely her own & equally as spellbinding.

Lyrics

Crack the Whip

Written By: Words ~ Victoria Faiella / Music ~ Victoria Faiella & Dave Diamond

Crack the Whip

Separate the truth
From words that have been spoken
My soul bears the tattoo
Of a heart that’s being broken

It’s hard to hold the warmth
When you’re hung out to dry
I just wanted your body
To spill into mine

Crack the whip
I can take all your lashes
I’m naked before you
In only love’s ashes
Crack the whip
It’s our last dance
And I had this vision
Of something called…romance

Let’s call the curtains
And bow when we hear our names
Our love gave us fortune
Oh but it was the hurt that received the fame

Crack the whip
I can take all your lashes
I’m naked before you
In only love’s ashes
Crack the whip
It’s our last dance
And I had this vision
Of something called romance

I don’t hear Venus
There’s no reason in her voice
It never had a chance
We don’t have a choice

Crack the whip
C'mon I can take all your lashes
I’m naked before you
In only love’s ashes
There’s no standing ovation
In this love affair
I’m standing here in only love’s ashes
Oh can you see me now?
Oh can you see me?

Atala

Written By: Words ~ Victoria Faiella / Music ~ Victoria Faiella & Dave Diamond

In Carolina the woods echo Atala's name
The sky would then weep as she put herself to sleep

Rest your voice now
Still he will hear you
You're in his bloodline that keeps him alive
And in the silence
Still he is with you
You weren't part of him you were his life

The lovers shared one and only tender kiss
The wind would then weep its lullaby put her to sleep

Rest your voice now
Still he will hear you
You're in his bloodline that keeps him alive
And in the silence
Still he is with you
You weren't part of him you were his life

In the earth she lay so lovely
He stood alone in those hours
Now she gives birth to the flowers

Rest your voice now
Still he will hear you
You're in his bloodline that keeps him alive
And in the silence
Still he is with you
You weren't part of him you were his life

Rest you eyes now
In the silence

All Fall Down

Written By: Words ~ Victoria Faiella / Music ~ Victoria Faiella & Dave Diamond

I listened to the wind
There’s wisdom in the air
It told me to be happy
It told me to be free
I looked in the mirror but could not find me

Fall comes to call
Summer passed in no time at all
Everything changes
Change is part of me
I’ve been waiting, waiting patiently

I can break when my back’s against the wall
I can feel cuts on my knees when I fall

I walk past two lovers
Two lovers holding hands
They were so together
Together so it seemed
As we fall apart, apart at the seams

The water pulls me under
I lost my breath
I call for my Mother
My Mother could not hear
I cling to a life that I hold so dear

I can break when my back’s against the wall
I can feel cuts on my knees when I fall
Cuts on my knees from the fall
Sometimes we all fall down

There’s beauty in the breaking
When you rise up from the fall
I searched for the lessons
So many left to learn
Another chapter over but another page to turn

I can break when my back’s against the wall
I can feel cuts on my knees when I fall
I Can break when my back’s against the wall
I can feel cuts on my knees when I fall
Sometimes we all fall down
It’s not whether you fall
It’s whether you get up
Sometimes we all fall down

To Be My Man

Written By: Words ~ Victoria Faiella / Music ~ Victoria Faiella & Barry Hartglass

I love your arms around me
Holding’ me close and tight
You’ve got me mesmerized
I hang on every word that you write

For a moment it’s like a dream
But it’s not exactly how it seems

Don’t misunderstand me
I’m not at all confused
I won’t just stand around
And let myself get used

You see I’ve been in this place before
And I’m not gonna take it anymore

You wish that I was your girl
You say I’m the center of your world
You promise to love me as much as you can
But it takes more, than words to be my man

You’re like a dictionary
But you got a lot more to learn
If you wanna be my baby
You gotta give back in return

Something true and something real
Touch my soul, make me feel...alive

(Chorus)

I don’t wanna talk, I
Can’t listen anymore
To the same thing everyday
Gave up on trying long ago
What’s the use if you’re not gonna live up to what you say

The Damage

Written By: Words ~ Victoria Faiella / Music ~ Victoria Faiella & Rob Friedman

The leaves bleed blood red mourning the fall
Somehow I feel so much yet nothing at all
We both know I can’t bear the cold

You could paint me the Sistine Chapel
But you can’t undo The Damage
Or suck the sweetness out of Eve’s apple
But you can’t undo The Damage

The leaves fall to the ground like drops of Holy wine
I heard the ghost of you sing a sacred lullaby
We both know skies turned grey and cold

You could paint me the Sistine Chapel
But you can’t undo The Damage
Or suck the sweetness out of Eve’s apple
But you can’t undo The Damage

You’re lying in your bed all alone
You’re finding it hard to sleep
I’ll admit at best my heart is broken but at least it continues to beat

You could paint me the Sistine Chapel
But you can’t undo The Damage
Or suck the sweetness out of Eve’s apple
But you can’t undo The Damage

Drown your sorrows in holy water
You can’t undo the damage
Dust and ash replace brick and mortar
You can’t undo The Damage
