"Patriarch’s Blues – Victor Krummenacher"

Camper van Beethoven alumni Victor
Krummenacher has had some bad luck lately. His father and stepfather died within weeks of each other, but out of Krummenacher’s grief comes this incredible mix of covers and originals. Patriarch’s Bluesis an emotional
CD, by turns somber and angry, but it’s powerfully satisfying. From the deliciously doom-laden covers of the old spiritual “Motherless Child” and W.C. Handy’s “St. Louis Blues” to Krummenacher’s own “Where Do the Faithless Angels Sleep?” and “I’ll Meet You in Paradise,” this is a
majestic, stately CD whose rich instrumentation reaches out to enfold and comfort as Krummenacher’s rasp touches on issues of mortality and longing. Beautiful music to help you through difficult times.

Bio

Camper Van Beethoven bassist Victor Krummenacher has spent much of the last 10 years making solo recordings in his spare time. His critically acclaimed material, recorded for his own Magnetic label, has featured guest appearances from the likes of Dave Alvin, Carla Bozulich, David Immergluck from the Counting Crows and producer Bruce Kaphan.

Victor's mournful, blues based story songs have evoked comparisons to John Cale, Richard Thompson and the Band, but inhabit a space unique to themselves.

Krummenacher releases his 5th solo CD in February, "The Cock Crows At Sunrise" on Magnetic in partnership with MVD Audio.
