Debut EP 'Vida Cain Rots Ya Brain' January 2013

In what is known as the latest boom-town, Perth, Western Australia, you will find four (semi) distinguished gentleman have recently formed a hard hitting riff rock band called Vida Cain.

“Its’s actually my grandmothers name,” laughs lead vocalist Josh Johnstone. “Spelt exactly that way, first name Vida, Last name Cain. The funny thing is she absolutely hated loud music, so I couldn’t picture her being our biggest fan, however her name does have a pretty good ring to it I must admit.”

The band formed in early 2012 and spent their first six months writing, demoing and gigging throughout regional Western Australia.
Lead guitarist Chris Rowe describes the bands sound as “rifftastic”
“The music is pretty guitar driven with a few cheeky drum fills and harmonies thrown in for good measure.”

The band’s debut EP has just been mixed at Debaser Studios by Andy Lawson (End of Fashion, Little Birdy and Eskimo Joe) and mastered at Studios 301 Byron Bay by Leon Zervos (Muse, Aerosmith, Maroon 5, Crowded House).

“We were super excited to be working with Andy on our debut EP” says drummer JR. “After hearing his work on so many awesome Australian releases of late we had a really good feeling about how these tracks were going to come out and are nothing short of stoked with the results.”
The four lads who make up Vida Cain are founding members, or have been members of such Perth and Melbourne based bands as; The Happy Endings, Bordello, Midnight Mules and Trident Winter.

“I had used the gumtree website to buy a dog, sell a car, acquire some jousting sticks and get rid of a broken overhead projector, but I’ve got to say this was the first time I’ve used it to join a band,” remarks bass player Travis Endersby on how he came to meet.

2013 sees the release of Vida Cain's debut EP 'Vida Cain Rots Ya Brain' as well as an east coast tour in May, and a tour of Europe and the USA in July and August. Keep up to date via the bands social media pages.
