Recording artist Jermaine “Vigilany” McCall was born in Mobile, and raised in Prichard, Al. His music has been described by most as conscious and revolutionary, as well as soulful and introspective. Bizarre of D12 described Vigilany’s music as “original and innovative”. After relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2004, Vigilany was a part of a growing underground music scene. Vig has been in the position of recording artist, Ceo, producer, and promoter amongst other roles. Therefore, Vig is very familiar with the drive and consistency that is required to be successful.

Currently Vigilany is working on the follow up to the self –titled mixtape “Live Legends Ent. Presents…Vigilany” in which he made available for free download online July 2010. Having recently relocated to Upstate NY, Vig is looking to expand his movement in the states as well as abroad. Vig is also making his acting debut playing the role of “Naji” in the upcoming independent film “Darkest before Dawn”, and writing treatments for the videos that will accompany his next release.

Vigilany has been exposed to music his entire life. His mother, who played piano and sang in the local church choir, is responsible for all of Vig’s early musical experiences. Though he was exposed to R&B, gospel, blues, and many other forms of music, nothing spoke to Vig like hip hop. The late 80’s, and early 90’s era in Prichard, Al. was a combination of corrupt politics, drug trafficking, and homicide. Artist such as Scarface, Outkast, 2pac, and UGK amongst others introduced a soulful and yet graphic version of hip hop which Vigilany embraced. Vig vowed to channel his frustrations through the creative art form and be a voice for the disregarded community.

Vigilany released and independently distributed his first LP “Nihilism” in March 2004. He received praise locally and was in constant rotation on the local radio station 93blx. After relocating to Atlanta, Vig continued to record and independently distribute music. “Nihilism” was followed by two mixtapes “Urban Life” (2005) and “Meanwhile…Still Workin’” (2006). After performing at several venues in Atlanta as well as surrounding areas and a short lived production deal with a local company, Vig established his own Live Legend Ent. imprint with childhood friend Jermond “Mondstar” Lindsay.

The two would collaborate along with Virginia based producer Rounboi on “Hard but Fair”. Hard but Fair was released in September 2007 followed by “Hard but Fair vol. 2” in 2008 and “Live Legends Ent. Presents…Vigilany” in 2010 which all gained praise from many. Several independent producers, R&B vocalist Tekitha (Wu-Tang Clan vocalist), and other independent artist contributed to the efforts. Vigilany is now organizing a strong management, marketing and promotion team to contribute to the release of his latest mixtape entitled “Born Leader” scheduled for release in Spring 2012.

Vigilany is an artist who speaks to the soul of individuals. He understands that there will always be conflict in the minds and hearts of people. His music is a tool that will provide clarity and motivation for those in times of struggle as well as peace.
