Armed with a harmonica around his neck and his beaten but loyal 1966 acoustic guitar, local musician Vikesh Kapoor plays American folk music.
“The tradition is the stories. It’s history,” Kapoor says.“It’s what Bob Dylan did in his early years. People say that he stole music. They just don’t understand that retelling and reinterpretation is a vital part of the folk tradition.”
Just as Dylan was in the sixties, Kapoor is part of an intimate, urban folk revival. - Issue 1

Bio
An Indian-American traditional folk singer is something to turn your head to at first and indeed, people are quickly noticing.
Just short of a year in Cambridge, 23 yr old folk/blues singer Vikesh Kapoor has already played some of the cities most prominent clubs, like the Middle East, Club Passim, and PAs lounge, along with numerous house shows and hootenannies. He has appeared on Wellesley college radio, will soon be featured on billboard.com for a Cambridge section on fast rising, artists to watch, and trekked through two regional tours this past summer with one planned for October, all in support of his recent, debut EP On the Tail of a White Donkey.
Indiemuse.com calls one of his songs, Willy Robbins, a masterpiece stating that Vikesh Kapoors poetry is the most obvious talent with each song gracefully falling from his back pocket.
He is a true wordsmith, creating story-songs that while new, seem to have originated from archetypal American tales. And, like any classic tale revisited, his quirks (his vocal vulnerabilities and off--beat humor) cement his appeal. Stream some of songs from On the Tail of a White Donkey on his EPK.
