VilHelm

VilHelm

BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Nice, dark and sleazy. guitar, double bass and piano. Sounds similar to other sons of the night like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Woody Guthrie.

Biography

After fronting, critically acclaimed, alternative rock outfit 200.000 naglbitar, singer / songwriter, VilHelm has turned solo.
Turning from three piece rock to a complete "do it your self and do it raw" attitude, his debut album, "The Midnight Circus" displays a new face on the multi talented creative artist. A sweet, dark lo-fi folk/country album. Recorded in bedrooms and a kitchen of an East London flat, the album is loaded with warm and sharp character.
The songs, all written while living in London and traveling and staying with friends in different parts of the world, tell stories of love, death, life and rebellion.
VilHelm's live set, supported by a double bass and upright piano, is a nice and sleazy way to start or end a good whisky infused night.
Following the musical path of other sons of the night, such as Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Woody Guthrie and Will Oldham - and being an exhibiting painter and author, VilHelm is truly an odd one out in Icelandic music and art scene.
VilHelm plays Airwaves for the first time as a solo act in this years festival, backed by good friends.

VilHelm is self-managed...

The set is around 45-60 min. I play my songs from the album The Midnight Circus and tell people a bit about them and the stories behind them. And just my general slightly of centre take on life.
