"In Manhattan, Rosh Hashana With a Folk-Rock Sound"

"...Last year the Villa-Lobos brothers performed at the Latin Grammy Awards after a producer attended one of their concerts for the Shul of New York....People don't just come to listen to something beautiful, they come to be part of it..." - The New York Times (Metro Section, Friday, September 14th, 2007)

"Para cada violín, un hermano"

"...No es común toparse con violinistas talentosos....mucho menos con tres, y de la misma sangre!....El miércoles tocarán en el campo de los New York Mets frente a 40,000 personas.....cuando de escenarios se trata, nada los asusta..." - El Diario La Prensa, New York

"Fast Forward"

"...Last year, on a recent evening in December, the Villa-Lobos Brothers, three virtuoso violinists from Veracruz, Mexico, made their main-stage debut at New York City's Carnegie Hall.....they played with exuberant intensity for the appreciative audience...with their heads bowed as if in prayer, their fingers jumping and feet tapping, they weren't just playing music, they were living it...." - New York Forward

Bio

VILLALOBOS BROTHERS

Masterfully blending the indigenous rhythms and melodies of their native Veracruz, Mexico, with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music, the three Villalobos Brothers deliver an intoxicating brew of musical brilliance, cadence and virtuosity that awakens the senses as it redefines the notions behind Latin music.

Their signature style of fiddling, called fast-chatting violin, has taken them to perform at Carnegie Hall's Isaac Stern Auditorium, the United Nations 60th Anniversary Gala and the New York Mets' Shea Stadium, as well as the Latin Grammy's, Rockefeller Center and Broadway's New Victory Theater, where their music was described as "High Octane Mexican Fiddling". In 2011 they appeared at both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Following a concert at Kaufman Center's Merkin Concert Hall "The Forward" noted that "…they played with exuberant intensity for the appreciative audience...Ernesto returned his attention to his violin, his dark hair flying through the air as his bow raced across the strings...With their heads bowed as if in prayer, their fingers jumping and feet tapping, they weren't just playing music, they were living it..."
