"Better Than A Wheel"

This is a stylish set of country bluess flavored originals by songwriter Vince Junior. His voice is reminiscent of Greg Brown, and he shows great skill and originality with his acoustic and resonator guitar work. His songs have a nice, funky groove to them, and are deceptively subtle with a nice turn of phrase." - Dirty Linen

"Heading Home"

A handful of genuinely good songs and an album filled with all-around-excellent playing. The title cut Heading Home and The Moon Daddy show moments of true poetry. - Asheville Mountain Express

"Better Than a Wheel"

The blue acoustic sound of Vince Junior returns to country blues and acoustic fold tradition. Built up with varying percussive and string accompaniement, this dsic speaks with a distinctive voice. Junior's monotonic vocal character acts as the rhythmic constant here, as the delicate guitar phrasings, pickin' and slide action surround and speak with another tonality.

Playing his acoustic axe and National Resonator guitar, Vince puts out some fantastically orignial material ...etherial and harmonically complementary slabs.

These are breath-of-fresh-air tunes...sit back, grab a cool drink, and plop this one in. - Big City Blues

"Swing For The Sky"

Vince Junior is a solid bluesy guitarist with a gift for the simple statement, from the sweetly strummed "You're My Friend" to the stop-time drumming of "Freeze." Highly recommended for folk-rooted families.

Bio

Vince Junior puts guitar, voice and words together to make a sound so unique, yet warmly familiar. His strong, rich voice coupled with his aggressive acoustic guitar and slide guitar playing make for a sound that is quite unlike any of the recent singer/songwriters on the circuit. He was named Best Songwriter and his song "Someday Family" was named Best Song in a survey of Berkshire Massachusetts performers. His previous albums of original children's music have been praised in Billboard, Home and Studio Recording, Family Fun, and Radio Aahhs Magazine.

Vince Junior, composer, guitarist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, first fell under the spell of the blues through the music of Mississippi John Hurt, a country blues guitarist and vocalists. Hurt's alternating bass fingerpicking style led Vince Junior to the music of Chet Atkins, Robert Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis, Muddy Waters, Lightning Hopkins, Blind Willie McTell and Blind Blake, among others. Vince Junior has been able to meld these traditional sounds with a funky back beat. You can hear strains of Little Feat, Ry Cooder, Bruce Cockburn, JJ Cale, and Bonnie Raitt in his music.

In addition to his songwriting and guitar playing skills, Vince Junior's concerts are quite unique. He and his band are able to bring an energy and groove to his music while performing that most larger bands only aspire to.

Parents' Choice Award Winner Vince Junior has also performed for thousands of children throughout the country. A former Peace Corps teacher in North Africa and a National Board Certified teacher with a Masters Degree in Teaching, Vince Junior (aka Vince Floriani, Jr.) engages children in fun musical activities which promote self esteem, multicultural and environmental appreciation, language awareness and rhythm proficiency. Vince was just named part of the USA Today All USA Teacher Team. He is available for concerts, assemblies, songwriting workshops and artist-in-residences.
