Formed Winter 2009, the Vince Tampio Trio is comprised of two music students and one music school graduate from SUNY New Paltz. It started out as just a few friends with the desire to expand their repertoire and play shows.
Vince Tampio (trumpet) has been playing trumpet since age eight. Jazz caught him early - less than 4 months after he began playing. Throughout school Vince got involved in anything that was music he could. He participated and later lead Select County and State bands and other groups around Chautauqua County. From high school, Vince Tampio decided to pursue a degree in Jazz trumpet and Sociology at SUNY New Paltz. He writes original music for this trio. His main inspiration is Miles Davis and Pink Floyd.
Lora Cohan (Keyboards) began at a young age playing classical piano. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School majoring in jazz piano. Lora is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and holds a duel degree in Jazz Piano and Philosophy.
Michael Kadnar (percussion) has been playing drums for seven years. He is currently studying Jazz Performance, Music Theory, and Finance at SUNY New Paltz. He teaches drum set, piano, and theory lessons in Monroe and the surrounding area.
