Biography

“Hot!” “Clean!” “Refreshing!”

That’s the buzz around Southern Californian rapper VINYM, and rightly so. VINYM has captivated the game with his head knocking beats, seductive piano skills, and slick witty rhymes. That’s why it’s not shocking to hear people say VINYM’s the next rapper to be heard from the West. But what makes VINYM who he is today? Let’s take a quick gander at the history of this remarkable artist.

Laurence Ross Mason II was born in South Central Los Angeles, sharing a duplex apartment with his parents, grandmother, sister, and brother on the corner of Hoover Street and Gage Avenue. The love for music was a staple in the house. Even as a tot you would find Laurence spinning Stevie Wonder records on his finger as he sang the tunes acting the part of a record player. If it wasn’t evident then, it should have been. Music was going to be with Laurence throughout his life. Problems between Laurence’s parents caused a split and a move.

Anaheim, CA. The heart of Orange County was the new change of scenery for Laurence. This is where the hobby of music became the pursuit of a career. While in high school, Laurence felt an uncontrollable draw to the instrument his father use to play… the piano. Not having the money for lessons, Laurence taught himself how to play. There was a fiend’s satisfaction in learning a new song, playing an original melody, and just getting better at this craft. This passion was only fueled by a collaboration with high school classmate and friend Oscar “Nonsense” Rubalcava. While on a trip the two started talking music, and saw a shared interest. They decided to make a song right then and there. That night Laurence wrote his first rap verse ever (which was recorded), and from that night came the birth of VINYM.

As VINYM’s musical talents grew, he decided that he wanted to try to pave his own way in this music jungle. He began producing, arranging, and mixing his own tracks. While trying to master his art as VINYM, Laurence also decided to try and master the business aspects of music as well. Every day is a learning process and an opportunity to grow in both areas of music… the art, and the business.

Now VINYM is a business entity, soon to be a fixture in the music industry. His recent work through SoCal will contribute greatly to his goals. Multiple projects in the works with Riverside’s own Bonez has people mumbling that they might be the West’s version of the Redman and Method Man collaboration. Also a reunion with Nonsense, along with other SoCal artist, VINYM is grinding on the music scene with vigor. Couple VINYM’s immense talents and work ethic and you have a force that is determined to leave its mark. He is that Very Intelligent Natural Young Man…. VINYM!

Lyrics

I Wanna Be Famous

Written By: VINYM

Verse 1
Billboards, flashing lights
On stage with a mic
Rocking crowds, flawless style
Magazine covers now
Got enough bread, I could spread it to my homies now
They could spend it up, kinda like they was Oprah child
Grown man standing right here, no Puppy Chow
Or them Kibbles N Bits
See me fit in them fits
Know it's making you sick
Dont look at my whip
My chrome gon' blind ya
While my concierge go twenty five by ya
I dont even gotta push
Bank account good man, I dont even gotta look
I dont even gotta do nothin', I'm famous
Girl saw me chillin' at the club, she fainted
Then I woke up after I got faded
Said, "O Lord I don't wanna be nameless"
Gotta rule the world, at least try like I Ghengis
I just wanna be, man I got to be, need to be famous

Hook
I wanna be famous
Famous
Famous
(Repeat)

I got money, you could check
on the internet
I'm high up on the Forbes
Cause I get more
Than the average celebrity
You tellin' me?
Even Rachel Ray want my recipe
For hella Cheese
No pictures please, thats why my shade black
And my bodyguards, they could fold Shaq
I just lean back and roll to the next spot
A destination where I'm knowin that the weather hot
You know I'm never not, up in them tabloids
Some singer talkin' bout me, sayin' I'm a Rude Boy
I aint gotta do nothin', I'm famous
Girl saw me chillin' at the club, she fainted
Then I woke up after I got faded
Said, "O Lord I don't wanna be nameless"
Gotta rule the world, at least try like I Ghengis
I just wanna be, man I got to be, need to be famous

Hook
I wanna be famous
Famous
Famous
(Repeat) x2
