Viola Vengeance-Unofficial

All of the members of the band grew up around the city of Bridgeport, CT, and they all met each other while majoring in music performance at the University of Bridgeport.  Emily, the violist and singer, had mostly played classical music. However, when she discovered the many incredible jazz musicians at her school, she decided to get some of them together and make a whole new genre.
Their style fuses classical ideas and instruments with elements from jazz, bossa nova, and R and B. Besides Emily, there are three other members of the group. The drummer, Will, started playing the drums from a very young age and has been a studio musician for many years before this project. Christon, who plays the bass, has also been playing all his life and has been a studio musician. Thomas, the pianist, came to UB as a guitarist but found that he was much more interested in the piano. Together, they write and perform their unique style.
They started out playing for their fellow students at school, but then quickly moved forward from there. They made their radio debut with a live performance for the local radio station, WPKN, that is located on their campus. They have played in several restaurants, clubs, and theaters, and they have been spotted by the label Concord Jazz. Besides playing at gigs, they are planning on releasing a record of their unique interpretations of some great jazz standards.
