Violedy

Violedy were born in Reggio Emilia in autumn 2002, gathering the shatters of various blown-up local bands: Stefano (Ste, voice) and Andrea (Penni, drums) had played together for a couple of years before, Fabio (Agon, bass) had just quitted a hard-rock band, Pietro (former guitarist), yet seen on local stages, was looking for someone to play with and joined the project one night in a pub, also involving his school-mate Enrico (Bodi, keyboards). The band thus formed started to play and compose, also appearing on various gigs around their town. In January 2004 the first demo was recorded. The seven songs within are an example of what was Violedy’s sound like at the beginning, basically focused on gothic atmospheres and simple structures. In 2005, during the recording session of the second demo, Pietro left the band. Andrea P. Rubbio (Pipol) joined few months later, bringing a new sound, much more indie-rock based, and new songs to the quintet, who was then stable and ready for a greater effort: recording the third demo, containing six tracks, at the UST Recording Studio. Thanks to that record session the band gained 272 RECORDS and Nagual/Nomadism’s attention, appearing on the compilation "Electrostatik Vol.2" (out on September 2008 in the U.S.A) and “Nagual Vol.1” (out in Italy end Europe in 2009) at first, and eventually signing a collaboration for the full-length album “FROM THE FOG AND THE MUDDLE” (out in 2009). Violedy have played with important gothic acts such as Macbeth and To/Die/For. Our influences: from Velvet Underground to Tool (!) with a lot of bands in between like Black Sabbath, Ramones, Cure, Depeche Mode, NIN, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Faith no More, Him, A Perfect Circle and many more.
