VIOLENT VICKIE

Violent Vickie is a multimedia band from San Francisco, Calif.  Inspired by riot grrrl, electronic, industrial, soul, and pop music, Vickie programs beats and synth loops on the computer, sings, screams & talk-raps in the limelight of lo-fi conceptual, psychedelic visuals.  Her lyrics have feminist themes and address topics like consumerism, capitalism, addiction and religion.  She has toured the U.S., Europe, played Occupy Oakland, Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls, Gay Prides, Dyke Marches and Ladyfests. She has toured with Hanin Elias of Atari Teenage Riot and shared the stage with Mary Ocher, Mika Miko, Double Duchess,  Scream Club, and Katey Red.  Vickie’s songs have been featured in many compilations including releases by Riot Grrrl Berlin, Echo Records, and The Fempowerment Festival in Bellingham, WA.   Her anti cat-calling anthem "The Wolf”  has been featured in a short film by the National Women's Organization of New York City.  In addition, she has released two music videos:” Drugs" in 2012 and most recently, “Fuck You”, an homage to riot grrrl, in March of 2014.  Violent Vickie has toured The West Coast and Europe to support her album "Monster Alley”, voted best album of 2013 by KALX.
