Bio

Violet Rays first hit the scene in 2009 after winning the Réalise ton Rêve recording contest sponsored by Archambault, Musitechnic, and Audiobec. They have since played an active role in the growing indie-folk scene of Montreal. Hailing from parts of the suburbs and parts of the rural Canadian east coast, they have a brilliant blend of melodic jazz-folk and lo-fi punk rock influences that makes for some catchy, heart-wrenching music.

Gigging actively around the city and beyond, the band released their first EP in March 2010. In the following summer, they did a small but hugely successful Atlantic Canadian tour playing for summer festival crowds. Also in 2010, Violet Rays recorded an instrumental soundtrack for the documentary "100 Ans de Pleine Nature" produced by Daniel Rocque.

The band started their own DIY label named Six Hearts Music and they are currently working on their first full-length record due out in 2012.
