Bio

What happens when you throw away the turntables, recorded music and repetitive bass-driven beats and put a long-haired rapper in front of three groovin’ cats playing original “Hip Hop Funk”?

Just when you think you have seen and heard it all, Violet Says 5 comes out of nowhere and shakes every nerve in your body. Violet Says 5 is new and original with a new twist, style and approach for delivering performance-driven sound that will twist you upside down.

Who is Violet Says?
Founding member “Eaon Burnsfury” the “original furious drummer” who will bite your head off, if crossed, and beat your skins up like a punching bag.

“Ethan Spalding”, the 24 year old rhythmic rapper/singer with a charismatic performance energy that moves crowds.

“Kush El Amin” the notorious bass thumping groove master, non-conformist, underlord. Watch him, he jolts!

“Rollin Westcaht” the self taught guitar prodigy of a mere 20 years will bring any bluesman to his knees in despair.

AND “Violet”. Named after women who rule. What Violet says goes. As she states, “The 5th member of the band is YOU and her”, the listener.

The Beginning: The Southern Rock/Blues band, Violet Says, blasted onto the fast-track in 1999 as a power group fronted by founding member and drummer/vocalist Eaon Burnsfury. After performing at Woodstock 1999, Violet Says released one album which topped the Gavin charts with moderate success. Eaon began the long search for a uniqueness that would set VS apart. In 2002, this recreation led to the replacement of the original bass and guitar players with two fresh musicians. The pair included bassist, Kush Amir El-Amin and Germantown, MD teenage guitar prodigy Rollins Westcaht.

The Rebirth: The threesome completed their full circle of experimentation with Southern Funk Rock and Hip Hop Rock with the addition of Washington, D.C. singer/rapper, Ethan Spalding. Throughout Spalding’s career, which included performances with artists such as Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, and Jadakiss, the 24 year-old veteran rapper and winner of more than a dozen local rap contests, knew that his search to find his own unique musical groove to rap to was over. Breaking the traditional and standard Rap approach, Ethan, discovered that by adding his stories and lyrics over a fat, badass base of VS5 musical grooves that he found himself smack dab in the middle of the “Rebirth” of his own rap artistry.
