Bio

Once and a while an Artist comes along that isn’t like anyone else. They don’t sound like anyone. They don’t look like anyone. They carry that feeling of when you know you’ve just come across something rare. Something special… And every time they leave the stage. They have you wanting more. Here is that Artist.

VIOLETT JEAN.

Violett is not a one-dimensional persona. Her journey is a true “Behind the Music” worthy story of perseverance, passion, and hard work. This is the real deal. She has clawed her way through the industry one step at a time for many years. And she isn’t stopping anytime soon. When you are a true artist and performer. There is no Plan B.
For many years now Violett has been on the journey of her life and career as a Singer, Songwriter, and Performer. Her evolution into the artist you see today began at a very young age in Canada where she was born and raised. And came to fruition amongst the billowing and infectious energy of New York City. Violett was born a performer…But that birth has happened many times over.

“I’ve always been captivated by a great performer. I spend endless hours watching video of the Legends like Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury. They blow my mind. And inspire me to be great.” As most young girls do Violett studied her favorite musicians when she was a little girl and even now. Rock N Roll, Motown, Pop and Hip-Hop have all been huge influences on her and her music. Legendary Artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna and The Beatles were always prominent as well as Queen, Gun’s N Roses, Nirvana and Pearl Jam. “I grew up in a home that always had music playing. It was such a big part of my childhood. It was never strange to see me performing, dancing or singing around the house. I constantly would ask my Mother to Video record me doing the new play I just wrote or the song I just learned. That was my fun. It’s all I wanted to do. The earliest Video of me singing is at 1 ½ years old with my Dad. I have really supportive parents who have always and continue to encourage me to go for it.”

Never one to be shy Violett began performing for her family as a young girl and then in front of crowds at her high school events. The very first time she sang in front of a big crowd she got a standing ovation. And from there, she was hooked on the drug of Live Performance. “My favorite thing about being an artist is performing. And I think that’s why people find my Live show so entertaining, the comment I get most after a show is “You look like your having so much fun up there!” Or people comment about how much energy I have. And it’s so true! When you love what you do…It’s like a magnet. The energy you give pulls people in and connects with them. I look at performance as the Audience and I together. It’s not just me up there singing at you, I am with you and we are in this moment together, so let’s fucking rock it.”
After winning a city wide talent search Violett became the lead singer of an all girl group. They went on to have songs reach top 10 countdowns on some of the biggest Radio Stations in Toronto and London. They also did a label showcase in New York, which resulted in a meeting at Atlantic Records. “I remember walking through those glass doors that read Atlantic Records in gold thinking to myself WOW. Look how far I’ve come from my bedroom. They didn’t end up signing us, but the A&R at the time did look me in the eye and tell me he thought I was a star. I just needed time.” After touring and having much success together as a group for 2 years, they went their separate ways. “I was heart broken when we broke up because I was very involved and invested in that group. I was also scared to continue as a solo artist being that I was used to having the girls with me on stage. But I had to wipe my eyes dry, stitch the wounds and move on.”
So she packed her bags and began the next part of her Journey in a little studio In Brooklyn New York. It was there that she began to dig deeper as a writer and open up more as an artist. “New York city felt like home to me. It opened my mind beyond what I could have ever imagined. It set me free as a person and as an artist.”

In New York Violett worked day and night with her mentor and long time Producer Angelo “Doc” Velasquez in the studio creating her sound and defining what Violett Jean was all about. Sometimes being locked away in the studio for days on end. The music began to reflect a woman with edge, grit, and power. The Pop/Rock songs infused with Hip-Hop and Pop Punk elements began to tell the story of life through the eyes of a girl who had been through it all and was still standing.
After a short time and with the help of her now manager Dave Nelson she began to book shows in some of New York’s most infamous clubs and even landed opening Slots around the country for Artists like Lil Wayne in Rochester at the Blue Cross Arena, Keri Hilson, Kevin Rudolf and Hello Goodbye at Stony Brook University, Asher Roth at Pe
