Bio
Violet Winter is the bastard love child of Hard Rock’s drunken one-night stand with Electronica.
From the unstable mind of front-man and singer / songwriter Oscar Salinas, Violet Winter pushes the boundaries of traditional rock combining parts of synth lines, rock guitars, and hip-hop beats to create a Frankenstein’s monster of 21st century stereophonic compositions.
Salinas is no “Johnny-come-lately” to music; he has years of experience in the Chicago music scene. From his time fronting a hard rock band, and getting his Bachelor’s degree at DePaul’s School of Music, to numerous studio internships learning from Chicago’s best, he has been earning his wings since his early teens.
The two years leading up to Violet Winter’s album release concert in July of 2010 were spent in the studio, writing, recording, trashing, and rerecording tracks as eighteen songs were methodically narrowed down to ten for the self-titled debut album.
Once the album was completed, Salinas recruited some of the best talent in Chicago to join in on the project to make it as, if not more, compelling live than the studio experience. The live band includes socialite “Tommy P” Schlacks on bass, Without Waves front-man Anthony Cwan on guitar, classically-trained percussionist Mario Cerutti on drums, and keyboard-virtuoso Eric Stang on synthesizers.
Now the band is poised to make a splash in the sound waves of modern music and leave a lasting mark for the name Violet Winter.
