V. I. P.

On May 28, 2003, Derrick “D-Low” Felton, Shaun “Boss Slim” Clark, and Anthony “Truth” Williams were riding the subway on their way to the Southside of ATL when their soulful voices caught the attention of producer Tony Bitten – while as an unnamed male 3 piece group, two months later in the midst of rehearsal, studio recording and coming up with new and innovative music to debut, V.I.P. adds Stanley “Streetz” Vaughn to the mix. From this addition to the group, V.I.P. was emerged.

All members of V.I.P. are natives of Atlanta, Georgia. V.I.P. often talk about how they want to show the world where they are from and what its like coming up in Atlanta. “We’re from the streets of Atlanta – Our music talks about what we have gone through and what we are experiencing”. “That ‘s what makes us real!”

Born Derrick Felton, Shaun Clark, Stanley Vaughn and Anthony Williams, known to their local fans as D-Low, Boss Slim, Streetz and Truth and now known to their friends, family and the community as soulful singers with rough un-cut rap styles who are creating a tradition like no other has done before. These Hip-Hop artists are putting finish touches to there debut album. With Tobi Entertainment Group's chairman and CEO Tony Bitten and Vice President Derrick Bitten serving as the record's executive producers, V.I.P. is working with an enviable list of hit making producers that includes Tony Bitten of Tobi Entertainment Group (whose credits include work with Capitol Records, The Controllers and Malaco Records, Allison Kyle, he brings us sexy sultry ballads and fresh Hip-Hop beats featured on the Freshman album from V.I.P.) and also William Thomas of P-Sound Productions (whose credits include work with stars Monica, Escape, Janet Jackson, TLC, Dru Hill, Diana Ross, Mya and new and upcoming jazz saxophonist Jason Bitten). With the first single, “Booty Doo" (written and produced by Tony Bitten and V.I.P.) a favorite among DJ’s, club goers and community listeners, V.I.P. says their first CD promises to be rough, rugged, yet smooth and definitely something that everyone can listen to. V.I.P also adds, “We want to it be a real representation of who we are and where we come from."

V.I.P. is juggling a busier-than-ever schedule. Between school, studio sessions, rehearsals and everyday business, there is very little time for personal leisure. (Boss Slim) “ I don’t really care about not having much personal time. This is our dream and we have to do what ever it takes to make it happen”. V.I.P. started off at a young age singing at church and in the school chorus. V.I.P. also says their roots are in the church and that there is a strong belief in GOD. “His presence is always with us. We practice prayer in everything we do,” says Truth.

“Our first performance as a group, (D-Low, Boss Slim and Truth), we rocked the house” They continued singing in church and in school and at some point, thought they would like to start recording and maybe land themselves a record deal.

During their years at Columbia High School, V.I.P. sang in talent shows and school assemblies. "We are inspired by and listen to all kind of music at home," V.I.P. says. "Our parents listen to a variety of music”

V.I.P. is very eager to become the recording industry’s newly hot item. They also add they realize that there will be lots of hard work involved and have no fear in doing what’s necessary to make their dreams come true. “We live by a certain standard – That standard would be keeping it real to the streets and making our dreams come true.” V.I.P. definitely has the drive and motivation to make it to the top.
