Virginia Bronze Handbell Ensemble

BandComedyAmericana

Virginia Bronze is the only auditioned, community-based handbell group in Northern Virginia. Our 16 ringers play on 5 octaves of handbells and handchimes. Our repertoire spans classical, secular, popular, Americana and original composition for handbells.

Biography

If you have only seen handbells in a church setting, you are in for a unique performance with Virginia Bronze. We are the only community-based, auditioned handbell ensemble in Northern Virginia. You definitely won't hear "Firebird Finale" or "In The Mood" on bells in a church! Formed in 2006 from handbell ringers who wanted the challenge, satisfaction and diversity of professional performance opportunities, Virginia Bronze has performed with the Metropolitan Chorus, the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, accompanied the Cathedral Choral Society at the National Cathedral, and rung in the New Year at First Night Alexandria.

Set List

Virginia Bronze typically performs a thematic concert which lasts approximately 75 minutes. Previous concerts include "Night & Day" where we featured pieces such as "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and "Radiance". A Spring 2008 concert was titled "Virginia Bronze Under the Big Top" and featured pieces such as "Barnum & Bailey's Favorites", "Mancini Magic" and "The All-American Hometown Band." Our February 2008 performance at the historic Anderson House in Washington DC included turn-of-the-century international classical selections from Humperdinck, Ravel, DeBussy and Gershwin.
