Bio
Formed in the late 1990's, VISION readily established an identity as a "classic rock" band. The quartet was completed by founding members, Mike Matousek, Joe Bates and Ron Neal with the aquisition of seasoned drummer, Sam Funk.
Fronted by the dynamic vocals of Bates, VISION responded to a demanding schedule and captivated audiences with energetic performances. 5 months into a relentless agenda, Funk and VISION parted ways. VISION remained intact when a mutual friend, Dan Doughty, introduced veteran drummer, Shawn R. Simister to the group. Behind the drumming of Simister and the bass of Matousek, VISION established a powerful rhythm section enhancing Bates' vocals/guitar and lead guitar riffs of Neal.
Upon completion of an exhausting 3 1/2 year program, that included a brief tour in Cleveland, VISION decided to slow the bookings down to be reaquainted with family. By the summer of 2004, Neal was called to Virginia to care for an ill family member. Neal did however, maintain a relationship with the band with trips back to Detroit for occasional shows. By August of 2005, lead guitarist/vocalist Jeff Hughes, a long time friend of Simisters, was recruited by VISION, permanently replacing Neal. With the addition of Hughes' versatility and high level of professionalism, in conjunction with the established Matousek, Bates and Simister, VISION continues to be a local favorite.
