Biography

Vista is a heavy Funk Rock power trio that formed in 2005 out of Vista/Katonah, NY. Originally, a 6 piece band under the name of "Sideproject", Vista made some serious adjustments early on, and then came a long way to find that perfect sound to truly reach the souls of their listeners, and the flawless lineup to make art of it. Since their arrival to the world of rock and roll music, the band has written an extensive repetoire of orginial music, recorded professionally in NYC, working with well known producer David Patillo, and played over 70 shows, (Including famous and historic venues such as "The Bitter End" NYC, "Westchester County Center", NY, and "The Ridgefield Playhouse Theater", CT). Vista has also had the honor to open for the band State Radio. The band carries a heavy, yet very groovy, organic rock sound with a whole lot of funk and blues thrown on top. Vista is heavily influenced by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc, and the inspirations from these influences certainly come across the band's original music. Vista's music varies in tambre, but often features some great, heavy, earthy, bluesy and funky grooves, with intense melodies, interesting lyrics, great improvisation, and a growing repetoire of more melodic, beautitful, and chord progression based songs and acoustic numbers. As a trio, they have been acknowledged for their ability to truly fill up a stage. The 3 members of the band, Alex Cano, Ryan Maclean, and Sam Breslin, are all very devoted to making each performance a unique and exciting experience. During live shows, the band plays with a great amount of energy, and often likes to throw in surprises, such as exending certain songs and adding unknown written instrumental sections, as well as extended sections for improvisation to keep things exciting, interesting, and full of surprises each time they take the stage. Their love and passion for music is always evident through their expression and live performance. Every Vista show is certainly guaranteed to be a great time, and always one that will keep you on your feet and satisfy your soul. Vista has set high stakes for the future, and the band is currently in the process of writing and recording a ton of new material, ready to release a full length debut album for 2010

Set List

Set List length totally depends on the venue and the show. We've done sets as short as 20 minutes and as long as 3 and a half hours. We're an original band, and for the most part we like to showcase our own original music. However we will of course throw in a certain amount of covers depending on the type of show we're doing. Covers range from crowd pleasers to deep tracks, and we always promise to take any cover we select and make it our own. We're very into writing out our own solo sections to covers we do and throwing in original ideas. The bands we tend to cover the most are bands that have influenced and inspired our sound such as Jimi Hendrix (the experience and band of gypsies), Cream, Pearl Jam, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, The Allman Brothers, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.

In terms of original music, we have a decently extensive catalogue. We're also on a big writing surge right now and in the process
