Genre of music…..Rap

Vito was born in Washington, DC, at Howard University to Mary Beasley and Ellsworth Short. As youngster Vito had an unbelievable passion for music. It wasn’t until later that his parents learned he was (and still is) a huge Michael Jackson fa. Vito spent much of his childhood singing and dancing anytime he got a chance.

While in middle school Vito started writing poetry, and that’s when the light came on. Using his amazing talent and his way with words, he was able to turn his poetry into rap. By this time, Vito was 15 and made up his mind that rap would be his target. He spent his days in class writing raps and from time to time he would battle his classmates. After Vito graduated from high school he took his rap career very serious — so serious in fact he almost got put out of his parents house.

Vito got together with two of his good friends and they formed the trio known as DTA. Since then Vito has traveled around the country to places such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, and North Carolina displaying his talent in front of anybody with a set of ears. Vito’s music inspirations are God, because he gave him this wonderful gift, his 2 daughters that mean the world to him, Tupac, Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Scarface, the smack/url battle league, and one of his good friends and co-founder of DTA — Bazooka Jo who passed away in 2010. He sites these people as his sole reasons for him pursuing his music career.

Vito Cognac is now with Cap Citi Kush Boys and is working on his first project called Vito’s Way. Believe me this young man has a voice that demands your attention and you will give him that….
