“Mumbai-based composer and percussionist Vivek Rajagopalan wowed Delhi by mixing electronica, breakbeat and drum n’ bass.”

“Vivek Rajagopalan, a new name in the world of music,a budding and energetic composer from Mumbai, a humble gentleman with a unique personality that easily distinguishes him from the rest.”

“…. (Vivek’s) music is different….a unique blend of electronics, as well as Indian classical … (and) creates a defined vibration if you closely follow his creations.”
-Rohit ganguly - Metro Now-Delhi, Nov.10,2008

“…groove… find(s) manifestation in the head bopping grace of drum ‘n’ bass, sprinkled liberally throughout Moving Images.” ..........

"The track snake in they city, otherwise a mish-mash of frantic energy depicting the madness of city life, rides on the sturdy back of a rill that emanates flavours of a tamil folk tune."
-arindam chatterjee - Hindustan Times-Calcutta,July 22,2008

“Complicated beats are rendered easy for the listener as Vivek takes different kinds of percussion sounds and combines them together with samples to come up with fusion-based electronica; basically, stuff that you can dance till dawn to.”

"With his aggressive yet groovy style combining combining mellow Indian sounds of the mridangam and sitar with drum and bass,Vivek's music promises to give nightclubs a new beat to move to."

-Divya Kohli - Telegraph, July 22, 2008

"Vivek and Lindsay’s performance was totally out standing. They played songs from their previous album Moving Images and few new compositions (Mind games, SOB and SAMI)"

"..... any other musician would find it hard to collaborate Indian classical instruments with electronica and break beats, as Vivek was able to carry it off with aplomb."

-Siddhesh More -, July 23, 2009

He has two albums to his credit,
"Dancing With Shiva" ,Moving Images"

Vivek Rajagopalan is currently working on his new album "Mind Games". His last album "Moving Images" was nominated in the AVIMA09 (Asian Awards), as the "Best Dance Act Solo" and won the "Most Mind Blowing Music Video" award for the song "Snake In the City". Consequently, in July 2009 he opened the Electronica night at "Les suds a Arles " - France, which was very well received by the audience, some of whom also came to watch the acoustic/unplugged version of the same. The show was a full house and the audience feedback, translated into all the CDs being sold out. He has also played in Richard Bona's new album "The Ten Shades Of Blues" and has been featured in Bauchklang's (beat boxing band from Austria) album "Live in Mumbai". This was an impromptu jam that happened at their gig in Blue Frog - Mumbai. He is also a part of an Indo-Norwegian collaboration, "Raggatronik" which has the legendary Bugge Wesseltoft, Shri, Per Martinsen, and Dhruba Ghosh in the band. For the Commonwealth Concert Tour in 2002, he proudly shared the stage with Shri (Badmarsh and Shri), Courtney Pine and other respected musicians from the Commonwealth Countries. Vivek, a mridangam (Carnatic-Indian classical percussion) and kanjira player, has learnt the art, under the able guidance of Guru Shri T.S. Nandakumar, since the age of 9. With a solid foundation in classical music, he started composing and producing music, which he thought was his self expression. Moving Images was an outcome of this journey, which he recalls as, reflective and insightful. His Live set is a combination of musicians who have a traditional and innovative mind, to create and present a perfect blend of soulful melodies and heady beats.
