Ron's background in the music industry includes his being on-air host of Sirius Radio as Horizon's World Music host, where guest artists included Colin Hay (Men at Work), Sting, Justin Adams (Robert Plant), Gal Costa, Mariza, and more.

His first recordings for Cliffie Stone's Granite Records (EMI), led to later piano and keyboards for the likes of jazzmen Dave Pike, Leroy Vinnegar, and in his own bands including Pacific Standard Time, and later in the 80's West Coast renowned "Gangster", a horn band seen in clubs and on television throughout Central California and the Bay Area.

With career notes as a percussionist featured in the Union Tribune along with Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead), Ron "returns home" to his roots in a large horn band that features a classic Vintage R&B Horn Band Tribute, and the new CD original material from Jazz/Rock/R&B fusion that borrow from World Music styles and trends.

VMB features key players whose credits include time with Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Don Ho, Melissa Manchester, Peter Allen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rocky Burnetts, Tony Bennett, Sony & Cher, Jan & Dean, The Little River Band and more. The band is tight and monstrous on its emulations.

Originally founded as Ronster and the Vintage Monster, the band quickly became known as "VMB - taken from the "vintage monster band";  Since Ron exudes his background in radio, the next phase brought the band to the legacy overview of Horn Band Rock, with everything you ever wanted to know about Horn Bands, and this, Horn Band 101 now rocks with the best of a golden oldies station, the show featuring Ron Knight (the man of a 1000 voices) not only knocking out a real David Clayton Thomas, or a Joe Cocker, but also giving us a spin as the oldies DJ through the band's show signature Radio ID's, complete with jingle singers calling out "Horn Band 101!"  the perfect oldies station call letter sing-out.

"Nobody does what this show does out there, and that makes a big selling point to this band." - John Hunt

"It's a breath of fresh air to get an artist in here who really values good music and makes it apparent in the songs they choose and the musicians they ask to join them" - Carlos Marin, Jr. - Rolling Thunder Studios and Rolling Thunder Records
