Bio

The Alexandria, Virginia resident who is also known by his professional moniker “Vocalz,” has been performing on stage since he was five. In the past thirteen years, he has transitioned from singing at community events to performing at high-profile award ceremonies and political events. Born Kyle Sung Ahn on February 25, 1992, in Alexandria, Virginia, Kyle began to exhibit a new layer of star quality recognized by a growing fan base by the time he was just 16. He has mastered the art of song writing and music production and has fashioned an internet buzz on social sites such as Twitter, MySpace and Facebook. He is currently working to gain a more broad and extensive audience in the music industry, particularly within the R&B and pop genre.
Kyle Ahn established his singing credentials at age eleven when he was asked by Alma Powell, wife of former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, to sing his rendition of, “God Bless America” at an event that was well attended by prominent guests from all over the country. Following a string of events in 2004 through 2006, including a gig where he shared the stage and reportedly “stole the show” from American Idol star, Clay Aikin, Kyle began appearing on TV and in the local papers regularly and the phone wouldn’t stop ringing with requests to have the “cute kid with the curly hair” come out and perform at their highly publicized events. The highlight of Kyle’s emerging career was when music producer, Quincy Jones advised him not to give up on his dreams. With already an albums worth of material recorded by age 15, Kyle Ahn AKA Vocalz was featured in Washingtonian Magazine in 2006 and again in 2007 followed by a gig in Hollywood, California where Kyle delivered what Hollywood Actor and Comedian, Robert Townsend, described as a “breath taking” performance of R. Kelly’s, “I believe I can fly”. He was often paired up with rising child luminary, Tommi Willams, to perform inspirational duets and he continued to work as a child singer until he outgrew the child star image and he began to re-establish himself as a young adult writer and recording artist.

Kyle’s mother, Sally B. Waller, is undoubtedly the driving force behind his career. During a 2007 interview with an editor representing the Asian Pacific American Institute, both Kyle and Waller often referred to “we” as they talked about Kyle’s performance, and in a way, Kyle’s career is very much a joint venture. Waller herself used to be a singer with D.C. area bands before she had a family. She sometimes sang backup in Kyle’s demo and is Kyle’s voice coach and de facto manager. Kyle represents a business created in his honor by his mother called VocalzMusic (formerly Mz Vocalz Music), which specializes in vocal choreography, lessons and artist development.
At age 18, the destined young pop and R&B recording star, soon to graduate high school, whose creative style of writing and production is often compared to that of the late great Michael Jackson, has just completed a demo entitled, “Addicted 2 Love”. The CD, written, produced and performed by Kyle, features a compilation of his greatest work to date and is sure to capture the attention of industry shot callers. According to internet ratings and statistics, his fans just can’t get enough of “VocalzMusic”.
