Biography

The Lifters was founded by Nolo, a New York City Resident.
The aim is to create uplifting groovy African style music with a modern edge.
“The music shoots straight to the moon through the clouds, and the bass line is irresistible, if you can't feel it you need to see a doctor,” says Nolo, a West African whose life began in Cote d' Ivoire, Ghanaian through family lineage. This heritage gives him a very unique feel of music, but also he has traveled to many parts of the West African where music is an integral part of the people's culture. He has lived in New York for about a decade and has been exposed to the city's vibrant music scene.
The band members are musical geniuses, incredible players with several years of experiences. Although many of them grow-up in America, most of them have studied and played African style music for many years. Daryl the drummer, Amoti the bassist, Joe the Guitarist, and Lon the keyboardist, Michelle the Saxophonist and Raffi the horn player are all amazing players.
In fact, you can literally yell at them and they will play it back to you.
The Lifters have many influences, ranging from Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, James Brown and the police, and early U2. This has led to the creation of an awesome collection of songs.
As Nolo says, “The Lifters have come to rock your world, open your hearts and let the music lift your mood.” He also adds, “America has given me hope and this band wants to share it.”
Thanks for the love
