Voldis and the melodicas

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Voldis and The Melodicas are a songwriting duo based in Winnipeg, Canada. The two musicians, Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki, formed this partnership with the aim of creating diverse and memorable pop songs with the potential for mass appeal.

Biography

Voldis (aka Kevin Forde) is a singer/songwriter based in Winnipeg, Canada. In 2008 he released his first album, “Anna Donia” on Abocolabo Records. The album gained airplay on local radio and featured a video for the song “Flashlight” which aired on Canada’s “Much Music” and City TV’s “Ethnosonic”.
Recently, Voldis teamed up with Winnipeg musician Micheal Glucki (aka The Melodicas) and together they wrote and recorded the album “The Adventures of the Zulu Surfer”. The pair’s songwriting and production style are reminiscent of British bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, while infusing modern musical styles of artists like Feist, Santigold and Vampire Weekend.

Zulu Surfer

Written By: Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki

Hey kids where are you going?
There heads are coming off
Down the hill they go a rolling
Oh Oh there piling up

Look what he gone did
Now he's wanted
To go fight this bloody war

But he don't want it
This is the dawn kid
What the fuck we fighting for

Zulu Surfer (These are the adventures of the...)
South Africa
Zulu Surfer
Ride that wave child

Zulu Surfer
South Africa
Zulu Surfer
Ride that wave child

Hey kids where are you going?
Them bombs split the ground
The church and schools are burning
Pretty soon you'll rule the town

But he don't want it
The streets are haunted
With corruption and despair

He only rides where
the only violence
Is between the ocean and the air

Look what he gone did
Now he's wanted
To go fight this bloody war

But he don't want it
This is the dawn kid
What the fuck yo what the fuck!

Zulu Surfer (These are the adventures of the...)
South Africa
Zulu Surfer
Ride that wave child

Zulu Surfer
South Africa
Zulu Surfer
Ride that wave child

Zulu Surfer
South Africa
Zulu Surfer
Ride that wave child

Chorus

Hey U

Written By: Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki

When I caught you in
that easy motion
Maybe on a limb
but I had a notion
That you weren't the kind for the long road
Like you wanted to let your hair down
Or maybe you were looking for a one time thing

Hey you
My name is...nice to meet u
Gotta say u have such a beautiful smile

When I walked away
I didn't think I loved ya
But since I seen your face
I've been thinking of ya
And I know it's kind of strange
Cause I didn't want to know your name
I was just looking for a one time thing

Hey you
My name is...nice to meet u
Gotta say u have such a beautiful smile

I ain't lookin for a lover
I'm just lookin for a babe that I can call a friend
Now that I let you pass me by I'm just trying to
find you all over again

Johnny and Joe

Written By: Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki

What you know about downtown
What you know about wholes in the ground
What you know about motels hotels
Behind closed doors things you just don't tell

What you know about wholesales
What you know about the ghost the cell
What you know about posting bail
Man I know it to well that's I'm going through hell (What you know about Johnny)

A few pounds got me via chinatown
Got to feed the kin so there skin don't frown
I kiss her crown now I'm on the prowl
Lookin for the green glue keep a low profile

In these mean streets we mean well
Just trying to eat without eating ourselves
Undercovers watch the kids run numbers
Man they gotta move fast so there feet don't sweat
(What you know about Johnny)

Go Johnny Johnny
Joe Don't Go

Don't go Johnny
Joe get goin

What you know about retail
What you know about what he sells re-sells
What you know about details
For free or a fee Man I love that smell

What you know about your heroes
You know the king don't where no clothes
What you know about satellites man, the man on the moon or UFO's
(What you know about Johnny)

Go Johnny Johnny
Joe Don't Go

Don't go Johnny
Joe get goin

Stars

Written By: Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki

Stars

Teachers Preaching
Preachers Teaching
Heads are Talking
World Colliding
Caps are melting
Seas are dying
Bullets flying
Kids are smiling

I ain't buying
That the sky is falling
If I had a dime for every time
I'd be a rich man

I ain't blind man
The sky's already fallen
Just take a look around
At all the stars on the ground

Lovers lying
Liars loving
Fire's burning
Soldiers crying
Sirens wailing
Systems failing
Big brother watching
While were rocking

I ain't buying
That the sky is falling
If I had a dime for every time
I'd be a rich man

I ain't blind man
The sky's already fallen
Just take a look around
At all the stars on the ground

The stars on the ground
They want to dance all night
The stars on the ground
They want to burn burn burn
The stars on the ground
They want to shine so bright
The stars on the ground
When will they ever learn

E

Written By: Kevin Forde and Micheal Glucki

I've been drivin
Runnin on empty
Over the rainbow
To get my pot of gold
I've got to go &
Find a new tomorrow
Have no time to live a lie
Then die a life of sorrow

Woman! I don't understand
Why you keep shuckin & duckin then frontin and jivin
Woman! How could you treat a man
With all the lovin I've givin

You've been huffin and puffin and blowin this house in (to the ground)
You be cussin and fussin then frettin and fightin (over town)

I be callin your bluff
But you trickin and triflin
The nerve to ask where I've been

I've been drivin on E

I've been drivin
Runnin on empty
Over the rainbow
To get my pot of gold
I've got to go &
Find a new tomorrow
Have no time to live a lie
Then die a life of sorrow

Woman! I don't understand
Why you keep shuckin & duckin then frontin and jivin
Woman! How could you treat a man
With all the lovin that I've givin

The rays that you shinin
Are permanently blindin (you melt me down)

The swell of your sea
unforgiving and violent (I almost drowned)

submissive,cunning and conniving
The nerve to ask where I've been

I've been drivin on E (I've been drivin)

Don't shed those empty eyes on me baby
Don't lay those empty eyes on me honey
Don't bleed those empty eyes on me sugar

I've been drivin
Runnin on empty
Over the rainbow
To get my pot of gold
I've got to go &
Find a new tomorrow
Have no time to live n' lie
Then die a life of sorrow
