Bio

Formed in Oakville towards the end of 2004, Volume quickly progressed into a serious project which has grown over the last four years into a group with what Brett Zilahi, senior mastering engineer at Joao Carvalho Mastering Studio in Toronto calls “a real bright future” ahead of them. In the summer of 2007, Volume began to explore the Toronto music scene. They honed their musical skills in several 4 hour feature performances at Miguel’s Club 324, where they became regular visitors, performing short sets there sometimes as frequently as twice a week. As a result they got to know and received advice from several local accomplished blues musicians, including Toronto blues legend Ricky Day. These experiences gave the band the tools and confidence they needed to seek out and perform many other shows in and around Toronto over the summer.

Volume’s music can be described as having a classic rock base, occasional hints of hard rock, soul and funk inspired ingredients, an aftertaste of jazz, and a natural presence of the blues. The songs are created out of a need to make music, an unbreakable habit that’s shared within the band.

Nearing the completion of their first EP, positive feedback is already starting to come in. Their two part rock piece “The Only One” has been featured on the “Best of Indies” compilation put out by Moozikoo.com, as well as on X-it rite records’ “Java with Javelyn Indie Music Volume 3” compilation. The future is promising as Volume continues to explore their music and expand their musical horizons.
