Biography

Volunteers quartet of Lawrence, Kansas have released their first studio album. "The 12 song collection combines indie rock chops with folk sensibilities. Singer-songwriter Tyler Jack Anderson sounds downright happy to be alive waxing poetic to the warm and fuzzy sounds of acoustic guitar, hammond organ, wurlitzer, and pedal steel. Not to be pigeonholed as alt-folkies, the group also displays a penchant for Built-to-Spill sized guitar solos and actually good harmonies." -Lawrence.com
Chuck Chapman, owner of chapman studios in Kansas City said this of the bands new release; "these talented musicians write and play way beyond their years and have a great sense of cutting edge production. The project was engineered by Rob Rebeck and deserves a Grammy nomination. Please don't miss this piece of artwork."

In July of 2007 Volunteers will be featured on NPR's Open Mic portion of All Songs Considered for the song "wendy."

The Song "Go Wherever" will be featured on the pormotional soundtrack for the PBS series Roadtrip Nation and featured in the show along with the songs "Electronic Mail", "Back Inside" ,"Miss You" and "Radio."

Volunteers have been actively touring in the midwest and toured the east coast in July of 2007. They have had the oppurtunity to share the stage with Ben Kweller, Will Hoge, Oakley Hall, 1900's, and many other acts developing an "increasingly popular live show (Kansas City's Pitch Magazine)."

Lyrics

go wherever

Written By: tyler jack anderson

Go wherever
I’m dumb I should organize myself
I’ve quit watching I’m doing shit myself
And I'm gonna climb the highest the mountain is my best friend
We can do what we want now we dream American yeah

Except I'm negative 300 in the bank
I got a credit card and addictions to thank
I’m getting high and staying there way too much
And I’m looking at my car dreaming of a new clutch

And we could go wherever we wanna
And move this town wherever we please
Yeah we all climb up and get so high
We never come down

Hey baby its relative and American kind of problems
We got alcohol and pharmacy we’re solving
Generation high on speed where’s chemical mask
This corporation sitting back and laughing at their cash

We’re screaming go wherever we wanna
And move this town wherever we please
Yeah we all climb and get so high we never come down

wendy

Wendy
Wendy wash away your worries
Because I wont be here for you always
Waiting wilted little flower
But dying slowly is your father

What did you think?
Wendy I am old and I am weak
The time has come

miss you

Written By: tyler jack anderson

Miss you
I miss you all the time it works because I can’t sleep
You’re always on my mind
And way too much to take

I screwed up from the start
I should have known myself
But I’ve grown up so much
I shouldn’t have broke your heart

I want to hold you in my arms and tell you things I wish I said
I want to know that your love is here
Yeah but now its far too late and as I feared
Now I know that love is far from here

go wherever

go wherever we want to
do whatever we please
climb up and get so high
we never come down

getting high and staying there way too much
staring at this car dreaming of a new clutch
and we could...
go wherever
