Volunteers quartet of Lawrence, Kansas have released their first studio album. "The 12 song collection combines indie rock chops with folk sensibilities. Singer-songwriter Tyler Jack Anderson sounds downright happy to be alive waxing poetic to the warm and fuzzy sounds of acoustic guitar, hammond organ, wurlitzer, and pedal steel. Not to be pigeonholed as alt-folkies, the group also displays a penchant for Built-to-Spill sized guitar solos and actually good harmonies." -Lawrence.com
Chuck Chapman, owner of chapman studios in Kansas City said this of the bands new release; "these talented musicians write and play way beyond their years and have a great sense of cutting edge production. The project was engineered by Rob Rebeck and deserves a Grammy nomination. Please don't miss this piece of artwork."
In July of 2007 Volunteers will be featured on NPR's Open Mic portion of All Songs Considered for the song "wendy."
The Song "Go Wherever" will be featured on the pormotional soundtrack for the PBS series Roadtrip Nation and featured in the show along with the songs "Electronic Mail", "Back Inside" ,"Miss You" and "Radio."
Volunteers have been actively touring in the midwest and toured the east coast in July of 2007. They have had the oppurtunity to share the stage with Ben Kweller, Will Hoge, Oakley Hall, 1900's, and many other acts developing an "increasingly popular live show (Kansas City's Pitch Magazine)."
