After a year hiatus, Chicago’s Vonte, who dropped by last year with his eye-opening video for “Black Man Lost” is back with his latest mixtape 1 Time 4 Da West$ide.
Clocking in at 12 songs, the project — although packed with street tales — is also a cautionary tale for future generations, as Vonte acknowledges his flaws as a human being and works toward righting his past wrongs, focusing on his growth as a man.

Buzzing Windy City rapper Vonte has many fond memories of life growing up on the westside of Chicago, and for his latest visual, Vonte has decided to eliminate the need for a hook in order to get his point across.
Following the release of his 1 Time 4 Da Westside mixtape back in February, Von connects with director Ian Rennels for the official video for “No Hook.”
Says Vonte regarding the new video: “When I use to work in the Downtown Streeterville neighborhood. I would ride the red line every morning. I would witness brave souls come out daily to perform for the CTA riders. Man it was so inspiring. I’ve never been one to look down on anyone.
