Voytek Duv

Voytek Duv is an electronic rock band from Chicago, Illinois formed in 2007. Voytek Duv combines electronic, melodic, and ambient elements, with a bit of hip hop and hard rock here and there, to produce a futuristic soundtrack to the ever evolving world. The band was founded by drummer/programmer Matt McGuire and guitarist/songwriter Alex White.

Matt and Alex met on the Chicago Musicians Craigslist after Matt responded to an ad that Alex posted explaining his interest in making electronic/futuristic music. Matt was already producing alternative/electronic music, so the two connected immediately after meeting for the first time. During their initial discussion, Matt cited Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead as major influences, while Alex expressed how David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Adam Jones of Tool impacted his guitar playing.

From that point on, the direction of the sound they wanted to produce was clear. They both agreed that the music should push boundaries and move forward in an experimental way, while capturing the ear of the common listener by maintaining groove and melody in the music. Voytek Duv puts major emphasis on its guitar and synth work to produce ethereal, atmospheric sounds. Their electronic, ambient textures and melodic progressions provide the listener with thought provoking music that has a futuristic quality.

Voytek Duv is currently finishing up their next untitled release, and is preparing for a plethora of shows in Chicago. The band is also looking to get their material featured in upcoming television, film, and video game projects. The future looks promising for the Voytek Duv.
