"Valley Jams"

...Vulgar Pang is heavy both lyrically and musically....adventurous....the music straddles the line between melody and abrasiveness.

-Steve Hyden - Appleton Post-Crescent

"Pleasures of Schizophrenia review"

...For the outgoing or open-minded music fan, there's plenty to enjoy here, with well-written songs, interesting lyrics, and more than enough changing things up to keep the music from growing dull halfway through the disc. Pick this one up and see that schizophrenia doesn't have to be a bad thing.

"Pleasures of Schizophrenia review #2"

For all those among you who are interested in several kinds of music and also like rock music, listen to Vulgar Pang and their debut-album “Pleasures of Schizophrenia”. This is a refreshing album which has combined a lot of different kinds of music with rock (early Black Sabbath and Deep Purple). You will have to listen the album several times but it will get better every time.

FROM THE INSIDE OUT...The Vulgar Pang Story

Out of a little known city in Northeastern Wisconsin, a revolution began in October of 2004. Veteran songwriter and musician Craig Hawkinson, teamed with a talented and insightful recording engineer and producer named Marc Golde, began work on an album intent on musical diversity and an air of boldness and risk that has been lost in much of mainstream music. Over the next year, a collection of songs celebrating the madness of rock and roll and the soul of man, ranging in scapes from punk to metal to heavy rock to Tom Waits-style ballads, formed what became Pleasures of Schizophrenia , the debut CD of Vulgar Pang. The band’s most recent release, “The Memoirs of Don Juan Gacy”, brings a more focused direction with a classic metal and gothic sound that brings generations of music together in one powerful force.

Vulgar Pang, a phrase coined by frontman Craig Hawkinson for "a moment of unfiltered truth or brutal honesty", became not only band but a symbol for the music underground that struggles to rise beyond the common themes of music and life in general. As evident in both the lyrics and music, Vulgar Pang asks the questions and searches for answers, speaking out loud in bursts of rock and roll rage and melodic thought.

The live unit, the core of which consists of Hawkinson on lead vocals, Golde on guitar, Ken Rodgers on bass guitar, and 2007 WAMI Drummer of the Year Greg Thiel, takes the music to another level with a show that is intense, invigorating, and, for many, cathartic as the band brings a joy to hammering out the battles we all fight through the songs of Vulgar Pang.

This is just the beginning...the revolution fronted by the Pang is being brought to any open mind to bring not only a new entity of music and thought, but a beacon of light to bring attention to Northeastern Wisconsin's unknown pool of talent that has been unjustly overlooked.

So many bands...so little time, but Vulgar Pang has thrown down the gauntlet and fired the first cannon. Take notice.
