"First Listen: Wade C. Long stops that "Bulljivin""

(February 17, 2020) Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Wade C. Long has a new single that is both fun and familiar. On “Bulljivin',” Long captures the essence of 80s funk and R&B, delivering a song that is one part Cameo, and one part Kashif with a dash of George Duke mixed in.

While the song is mostly instrumental, the lyrics that are sung by Long echo a time that is filled with great memories, one of a woman who had his attention. However, the lyrics are mostly accents to Long’s musicianship, evidenced by his free-flowing piano solo that carries the second half of the song. It’s meant to be a light, feel-good song and clocking in at a little over 3 minutes, feels just right in its length.

Long has more singles that will be released this year, but for now, give “Bulljivin’” a listen and take a quick trip down memory lane.

"WADE C. LONG – NORM’S PLACE: ARCANELY CONSTRUCTED ALT JAZZ"

WADE C. LONG – NORM’S PLACE: ARCANELY CONSTRUCTED ALT JAZZ
Posted on 29th February 2020

Up and coming LA artist Wade C. Long’s mesmeric blend of RnB, Jazz, House, and Gospel has made him one of the most distinctive artists we’ve heard in quite some time.

Their recently released single “Norm’s Place” is arcanely stunning. Yet rather than just offering a pleasant aural delight to lose yourself within, you’ll be hooked into each progression as you come to appreciate the ingenuity of Wade C. Long’s improvisational style. He found the perfect balance between chaos and catharsis in Norm’s Place. Dare I say David Lynch wouldn’t be able to orchestrate a soundscape as mind-melting as this?

With the usual time signatures safely out of the window, the jarring stabbing notes cut through the concordance of the lucid instrumental harmonies and efficaciously invite you into an aurally altered state.

You can check out Wade C. Long’s single for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud now.

"IT WON'T BE LONG...."

WADE C. LONG is an up and coming US smooth jazz keyboardist and vocalist from Cleveland, Ohio and his latest US single shows off both sides of those talents. The single pairs the instrumental 'Norm's Place' with the crisp vocal soul beater 'Bulljivin'.

Both tunes have been winning airplay on the best US smooth jazz stations and easy to hear why. There's a real classic George Duke feel to both tracks and indeed more than one US commentator has made the same comparison. The single is out now. - Soulandjazzandfunk.com

Bio

Keyboardist and vocalist Wade C. Long has been musically inclined for as long as he can remember. Raised in a family with diverse tastes in sound, he began singing at the age of 3. By age 6 Wade had written his first song, a rap, and he was leading songs in his church choir. Initially choosing to forego college, Mr. Long began to write and produce music for himself and other artists throughout his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Later making the move to the big city, Wade C. Long found himself in Los Angeles releasing his debut LP Love Is, in 2014. Two years later he collaborated with dance band, Zona, lending lead vocals on their single Love of My Life, and also his producing talents to several other songs on their album Peace Love Understanding.

Continuing to record, Wade finally released his first LP in 2020. The timely release of Nostalgia gave listeners an upbeat outlet from a year that was left grief-stricken by a worldwide pandemic and social unrest. Wade was rewarded by seeing his music reach several Smooth Jazz and Soul accolades, the highlight being voted a finalist for Soultracks.com’s Reader’s Choice Award for New Artist of the Year.

As Nostalgia continues to receive international airplay, Wade C. Long is returning with his second full-length album. Longitude will be released in three parts. Part One of the self-proclaimed “feel-good” record will be subtitled Keys Please. It releases worldwide on April 30, 2021.
