Review by Lucky Boyd

Wade Hatton's first foray into honky-tonk Texas country finds him recording live in the studio with his band, The Texas Hat Band. After writing fishing songs for a while, (yes, fishing songs) Hatton has taken the Texas scene as his subject matter and has racked out some great tunes. The opening cut will ring true with those who know about playing for 'tips and whiskey.' Hatton is a clever writer, which is evident on "I'm Here For The Hurtin'" and "Waylon At The Moon." The band includes a poignant tribute to Hank Williams on "Battered By The Bottle" and includes a reprise and recital as a bonus track. The album is a few miles short of the slick processing and performances needed to turn Nashville heads, but it listens well for a true Texas debut. Perhaps that was the goal for Hatton and the band when they set out on their million-mile journey. Welcome to the Texas music scene…your writing and dedication tell me you're up for the trip. As a country singer once opined, "if you're big star bound, let me tell you it's a long hard ride." Congrats on getting a great start, Wade! Music fans, give a listen and tell all your friends.

Wade has been reviewed as having a voice that says Texas. He started off writing a theme song for a fishing show. After a couple of CD's he laid his fishing pole down and started writing catchy toe tapping country songs. The Band has played just about every type of venue and can always adapt the set list to facilitate audience participation. 1 to 5,000
"Some have said I sound like Waylon, some have said I sound a little like Cash. All I know is we play some Hank Sr, to Hank III, most all the traditional country artist, some of the current Texas artist, and even some of my own. For me, it's still a great feeling to watch folks dance to the music we're making. Like any song writer, I hope to get my music in front of as many people as possible.
If I can put a smile on your face and make you dance I have done my job. I am fortunate to co-host with Brett Watts, his Songwriters in the Round at the White Elephant Saloon in Ft Worth every third Sunday of the month. It has allowed me to meet some really talented folks." I am enjoying the new Rockin' Country we are working on performing.
