WADOKYO
THE POWER OF DRUMS
TAIKO is the art of Japanese drumming. Developed from the folk festivals, it has matured into an independent concert form In the style of WADOKYO, this centuries-old tradition is newly defined; a combination of music, top-class sports and entertainment.
WADOKYO is a cosmopolitan group from Dusseldorf (Germany) that was founded in 2000. The formation consists of three to six players, who dedicate themselves with heart and soul to the art of Taiko. Within their harmonic and synchronized play of the Japanese drums, their individuality and personal style give the group its unmistakable character. Their long lasting experiences in fitness, dance, music and sports form an important basis for their artistic expression.

Furthermore, they have learned to play the Taiko drums in its country of origin and during yearly visits to Japan, the group members continue to be trained in style and expression., enthrall their audiences Europe-wide.
WADOKYO sees it as its task to integrate this Japanese tradition into its European culture of origin. Therefore, they often join forces with artists from different cultures and genres (e. g. ballet, sports, classical music, modern dance, ethnic and pop music) to create unique projects. This has led to the forming of the DO project, where the heart beat of the TAIKO drums joins with the virtuoso DJEMBE improvisations of the members of SO and the soul-full voice of JEAN BOSCO SAFARI and his band.

was founded in 2006 by the Ghanese virtuoso Yussif Iddrisu ‘Babs’ jobo (Wawadadakwa, Wagpe Kaso, Saxafabra, The Afro Beat Association), especially for his cooperation with WADOKYO. Babs Jobo joined forces with a pan-African team of star- players: Bodé Owa from Nigeria (Actor for Dreamworks, Black Vlaming and dancer with a.o. Aimé De Lignière), Freddy Masamba from Congo (Tambours de Brazza, Zap Mama, Youssou N’dour, Francis Lassus, Kodo and organizer of Couleur Café), Babara Bangoura from Guinee (Mamady Keita, Foli-Kan) and dancer Mbalya Toure (Chapeau de Guinee, Foli-Kan).
JEAN BOSCO SAFARI
Jean Bosco Safari was born in Rubago, Ruanda (Central Africa) on May 10, 1954. In 1960 — when the Civil War broke out — he was sent by his mother to Belgium where he got adopted by his Belgian parents.
Jean Bosco Safari is one of the best and charismatic live performers in Belgium.
In 1989 he met KENNY MOORE — Tina Turner's piano player — on a club tour in Switzerland. Moore agreed to produce his debut album "Wow".
In 1991,"Wow" was released in every European country and in Australia, South Africa and Argentina.
“Wow” was produced by Kenny Moore. His live act at the time was directed by Micha Bergese who did the stage acts for the last two Rolling Stones and Tina Turner and Peter Gabriel on the Millennium Dome Project.
In 1993, his second album "The Romantic Heroes" was produced by Robyn Smith, British songwriter, producer, arranger and conductor (Beverly Craven, The Pasadenas and Mike Oldfield). "The Romantic Heroes" was awarded a golden CD in Belgium.
In 1994, Jean Bosco Safari released his third album "Little Boy Blue". This album has been completed by two producers. The first three songs were produced by Peter Bunetta, an American (The Temptations, Kenny G., Smokey Robinson, Michael Bolton and others). The remaining songs were produced by a Belgian producer Wouter Van Belle (The Radios, Axelle Red, Zap Mama and Noordkaap).
In 1997 Jean Bosco Safari added on his latest cd “Visions of Home", ethnical influences from all over the world. This album was produced by Jean Bosco Safari himself in co-production with his keyboard player Marcus Scheibmaier and Sylvain Van Holme, a senior Belgian producer.
In 1998, Polygram released “The Best of Kid Safari".
Jean Bosco Safari regarded the 4 released CD's as a growing-process which had come to an end. He wanted to go back to basics: one voice, one guitar.
In 2004, the 'back to basics' idea resulted in the cd "NOMAD", a driven and poetical testimony of his search for balance.
In 2007 Jean Bosco Safari released the new single “Wake Up And Dream” which he produced together with Marcus Scheibmaier. The single is the first track out of the forthcoming album to be released after the summer.
