Bio

WAGWAK are an energetic indie folk band made up of Daehyun Kim and Sangyoung Cho from Seoul, South Korea. They formed in 2010 after lead singer Daehyun's return from an inspiring year delving into London's ever-changing, exuberant music scene.

Having launched their musical career in Korea’s vibrant underground music scene, gigging extensively in Seoul, highlights of their earlier days include a Lacoste Live! launch with Mark Hunter (COBRASNAKE) and a gig backing No Age (Sub Pop Records) at their 2012 Seoul show. Along with an abundance of festivals under their belt, including Korea’s Ssamzie Sound, Green Plugged in Seoul, and most recently POP Montreal where they were picked for ‘Best of the Festival’ , WAGWAK are no strangers to appearing in the spotlight; consistently impressing crowds with their addictive tunes.

As well as receiving praise from local media, WAGWAK have recently begun to gain international attention. The duo were mentioned in the New York Times as a Korean band to watch out for, were playlisted in the prestigious The Guardian-featured Music Alliance Pact, and have received press coverage from trendy US and UK magazines Paste and 1883.

Now based in London/ Stockholm, WAGWAK have recently released their EP 'The Way to Drive into the Arabian Sunset', and are gaining notoriety from their European shows, most notable a stint on Jeffrey Lewis’ (Rough Trade Records) summer 2012 UK tour.
