Waiters & Bellboys

Waiters & Bellboys

Waiters & Bellboys is an indie-folk-rock band. Jóhann Kristinsson used to play alone on stage all the time but recently he added Jón Þór Ólafsson(guitar), Steingrímur Þórarinsson(Bass) and Rúnar Örn Marínósson(Drums). Last year, Jóhann played the SPOT festival in Århus. Next stop : Austin, Tx.

Waiters & Bellboys is the alter ego of Jóhann Kristinsson. He has released 2 albums so far. One LP and one EP. He used to just release under his real name but recently he started to use another name for his music. He really doesn't recommend his old albums today but he used to like the music enough to release these albums back then. The first one is called ''Jóhann Kristinsson - Call Jimmy'' and the second one is called ''Jóhann Kristinsson - Tropical Sunday (EP)''. There is a soundtrack he did with Þórður Hermannsson for the short-film, Hux. That film was shown at the Cannes festival in France, 2008.

His next album will be released in Iceland before 2012. That one will probably be self titled. ''Waiters & Bellboys - Waiters & Bellboys''.

The music might be best described as some kind of Indie-folk-pop-rock.

Last year he played a solo set at the mighty SPOT festival in Århus, Denmark.

He gets inspired by a lot of things. Some of them are too corny to even think about. What if we skip out the cornyness and speak about maybe some music he listens to?
These are just a few of the artists he likes : Elliott Smith, Lou Barlow, Bill Callahan, Bright Eyes, Broken Social Scene, Why?, Dinosaur Jr., Feist, The Flaming Lips, Ben Kweller, Danny Malone, Joanna Newsom, Khonnor, Patrick Watson, Pavement, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Enkidu and many many more...
