Waiting For Betsy

Waiting For Betsy

 Santa Monica, California, USA
BandPopAdult Contemporary

Melodic pop-rock for the masses -- sometimes beautiful, sometimes hilarious, and, OK, sometimes a TEENY bit cranky. A little James Blunt, a little Cake, a little Weezer, a little Maroon 5. But better. Needless to say.

Biography

Santa Monica based Waiting For Betsy has been rocking out since 1889, when three farmers in Vermont decided that growing carrots just didn't compare to jamming in the barn. But seriously, it's good old American goofy music for the masses. In other words, a good time is had by all!

Lyrics

Just Another Girl

Written By: Daniel Nahmod

Is the sun just another star in the sky
Is the moon just an ordinary satellite

Well it used to be obvious but now
Since you said goodbye I've had my doubts
'Cause when I see you walking around

(chorus)
You're just another girl
Just another girl
This is just another day in a lonely world
And you're just another girl

Did I love you like I've never loved before
Did you say you'd be mine forevermore

Well I used to think I was kinda smart
But that was before you broke my heart
And now wherever you are

(chorus)

Where did you go
How do I get you back into my life
I can't stand it anymore

(chorus)

Up Comes The Sun

Written By: Daniel Nahmod

Up comes the sun and the spell is broken
Up comes the sun and the die is cast
Gone is the moon and the light is blinding
Gone is the moon and I'm fading fast

(chorus)
The only one
The only one was right here
Then up comes the sun
The only one
Not just anyone, we had it
Then up comes the sun

Up comes the sun and the world is over
Up comes the sun and you go home
Gone is the night when the light was blinding
Gone is the night and I'm alone

(chorus)

Press a button, flip a switch
I'll do whatever I must do
Just bring me back in time to be with you

Up comes the sun and my heart is broken
Up comes the sun and I'm fading fast

(chorus)

We Suck (At Breaking Up)

Written By: Daniel Nahmod

I know she's no good for me
All my friends can clearly see
She's no better off it's true
I'm so wrong for her it hurts me too
You keep askin' why
Well, it's complicated, but I'll give it a try

(chorus)
Why are we together
Cause we couldn't break up
We couldn't break up
We couldn't break up
Why are we together
Cause we couldn't break up
I'd cry, and she'd come over
She's cry, and I'd come over
So why are we together
Cause we suck --- at breakin' up

There's no line she hasn't tried
I myself have cheated twice
"I don't deserve you" so cliche
"Not ready for commitment" worked for a day
I'd jump off a cliff
But she'd prob'ly end up coming with

(chorus)

It ain't like bein' with her is a living hell
But it don't help that I'm under your spell
How am I supposed to clear my head
When I'd much rather be with you instead

If you've got a better way
Better hurry up, 'cause today's our wedding day

(chorus)

Don't Love Me So Much

Written By: Daniel Nahmod

(verse 1)
Do me a favor
Don't love me so much
'Cause it hurts so badly
Everytime we touch

You keep going in and out now
Messing with my mind
Planting seeds of doubt now, baby, all the time

If this is love, I hate to see hate
Lately you've been driving me crazy
You keep telling me you're worth the wait
But I've got another idea for your, baby

(chorus)
Don't
Love
Me
So much
Don't
Love
Me
So much

(verse 2)
Do me a favor
Don't take my hand
'Cause when you leave again tomorrow
My heart won't understand
And when you come back the next day
Here we go 'round again
It seems like you're the only one who's having any fun then

If this is love, girl, I don't know
Is there a different direction we could go
You say love is supposed to flow
But this is more like a horror show (so)

(chorus)

(bridge)
Is this revenge for something I did to you in a past life
Do you think there's an easier way that I can make it right

(chorus)

What I Didn't Say

Written By: Daniel Nahmod

What I Didn't Say
(c) Nahmod Music Co. (ASCAP)

Wait a minute, won't you please
What did you say your name was?
Just a minute, talk to me
Where did you say you came from?

I've got a feeling about you
And I don't wanna watch you walk away
Yeah this feeling about you
I don't wanna look back and regret
What I didn't say

Wait a minute, please don't go
Tell me about your wildest dreams
Just a minute, I need to know
Are you as lovely inside as you seem?

Chorus

Would you take a walk with me
There's a little cafe just down the street
Give me a chance, 'cause I believe
There's a hidden reason why we're supposed to meet

Wait a minute, won't you please
Somehow my heart recognizes you
Just a minute, talk to me
Do you feel the same connection too?

Chorus

Wait a minute, won't you please
What did you say your name was?

Discography

Debut CD "Waiting For Betsy" just released! We've already won some awards (JustPlainFolks, for example), hit the airwaves across the U.S. and Canada, and made our grandmothers oh so proud. We named it after ourselves... since we paid for it ourselves, it seemed only fair. Our first single was a very heartfelt but totally irrelevant tribute to our favorite actress; "Jessica Alba" actually charted as high as #24 on IndiePop! (We know, we can't believe it either.) A bunch of tracks have already been picked up for licensing too, most recently on History Channel... watch WaitingForBetsy.com and this space for details in the next few months.

Set List

Our first record is finally out. A set list includes "Just Another Girl", "Up Comes The Sun", "If Only", "We Suck (At Breaking Up)", "Jessica Alba" (our first radio single!), and our craziest tune to date, "Normal". Mosh pit meets Marley. Fun, funny, groovy, all-ages!
