"New Austin Music Roundup"

Waldo Wittenmyer just put out a new self-titled EP, and it really highlights his growth as a songwriter. Wittenmyer’s gentle, breezy vocals enforce a laid-back summery feel throughout the EP. - Austin Writes Music

"INTERVIEW: Waldo Wittenmyer and the Naturals"

Waldo and the Naturals are an eclectic sound steadily grabbing the attention of music listeners in Austin. Piano/organ-driven melodies, harmonies that nostalgically nod toward groups such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys and a rhythm section that provides a grooving pocket, this group has all of the key elements to make you snap, clap and dance the night away. - Read the Horn

"Waldo Wittenmyer EP (Review)"

"Wittenmyer’s writing precision and avoidance of any musical vamping has helped sculpt a solid pop outing and a very promising start for a great songwriter."

"If his eponymous debut EP is an indication of anything, it’s that he wants music to serve as a vessel for beauty, he wants it to be highly orchestrated, and he wants it to be more than just good excuse to go out and drink with your friends – although that still applies here. Young, in love, but still heartbroken, Wittenmyer’s songs embody all that is right with adolescent angst and an obsession with 60s album-pop akin to that of the Beach Boys and the Beatles."

"Wittenmyer has created a lush album of appropriately written two-minute and fifty-second tunes that reveal one of the best ears for pop in Austin right now. " - The Sessions

"Texas Platters"

Waldo Wittenmyer's half-dozen tracks on a self-titled CD rock & rolls a 1960s variety, but the young Austin singer-songwriter's debut ambitiously updates for 2011. He sounds genuinely heartbroken on "Tender Is the Night" and "Get Over It," but knows the ingredients for a good pop song. - The Austin Chronicle

Bio

The Naturals were born in September 2010; with both singer Waldo Wittenmyer and bass player Ben Eisenberg having become disillusioned by the 6th street blues and covers circuit, they set off to create a new type of band. The goal of that band was to create music that would appeal to championing fans of original music, and bar-going strangers alike.

After several months of honing a set in co-ops and house parties around UT and all over Austin, The Naturals, fronted by Waldo (also the main song contributor) debuted their first shows at renowned clubs around Austin like The Parish, Cactus Cafe, and Hole in the Wall. Shortly afterwards, they released a short self-titled EP that reflects their meticulous pursuit of musical precision and well-crafted songs. It highlights their infatuation of 60's music like the Beach Boys and Motown, while maintaining a modern perspective.

Waldo & the Naturals have continued to play frequently over the past year, having performed weekly residencies at both Hole in the Wall and Betsy's Bar. They are continuously raising the bar, making each performance unique and better than the last. With a tour of New York City in January on the horizon, things are looking better than ever for this trio.
