Bio

Walken is a four-piece from San Francisco, Ca.Our sound is tight yet raw, menacing yet palpable. Our emphasis is on songwriting, not showing off. Walken’s music has always shown all sides of our musical tastes, which are ecclectic to say the least. We take heavy bluesy metal paired with classical melodies, and combine those with high-energy sporadic song writing.
Walken has been playing for about seven years. We have four self-produced recordings, as well as a release on Deep Six Records. Our original drummer, Andrew, quit the band last June. To avoid auditioning new members, we decided to economize the line-up. Zack, originally on bass, switched to drums. Singer Shane picked up the bass and we were back on our feet within a month. With our new arrangement, we produce a more stripped-down, heavier style.
We have toured nationally five times, taking on all the booking and sales ourselves, not to mention several tours comprising of the Pacific North West. We played South by Southwest in 2006 on a completely D.I.Y. tour with the Rambler. The Rambler is a moving van converted into a mobile stage/sound unit, where the bands involved take part in the operations of the setup and performance. You can find more information on the Rambler at: www.myspace.com/theramblermaidenvoyage.
We also organize local shows with an expansive network of friends and bands in the Bay Area, and those who play here on tour. Over the years, we’ve played countless shows with the likes of Eye Hate God, Soilent Green, Rwake, Akimbo, Converge, Kylesa, Graves at Sea, Red Fang, Black Cobra, Amber Asylum, Saviours, Goatwhore, Acid King, Saros, Ludicra, Hammers of Misfortune, Giant Squid, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Hightower, and hundreds more.
We work hard to play the music we want, and take pride in what we’ve accomplished on our own terms. Despite having done everything ourselves thus far, we are now looking for additional label, booking, and distribution support. In April, we released our latest recording, a self titled five song ep that we produced. This release includes hand made, silk-screened packaging. Please give it a listen.
